Faculties and Institutes: The main Campus of Minoufiya University is located at Shebin El-Koum the capital of Minoufiya Governorate ,which is 75Km away from the north of Cairo :Faculty of Agriculture: Faculty of Agriculture established in the City of Shebin EL-Koum in 1958. It became affiliated to Minoufiya University in 1976 and thus forming its nucleus.It includes 15 academic departments offerstudy and research in the following fields: Crop Science, Animal Production, Soil Sciences, Horticulture,and Genetics. In addition to a center of agricultural research and advisory servicess,and a center of public service that includes a lot of self-sponsored units.Faculty of Engineering: It includes 6 academic departments : Mechanical Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Basic Engineering Sciences, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering and, Mechanical Production and Machine Design Engineering. In addition to a center of research and advisory services and productive workshops and rural development center, as a self-sponsored units.Faculty of Education: It provides study in both fields literature and educational sciences. It includes the following academic departments: Education Psychology, Fundamental of Education, Curriculum and Methods of Teaching Kindergarten, besides adult education centerFaculty of Science: The Faculty was established in 1976. It is the first Faculty among the Egyptian Universities that apply credit hours system in teaching. It includes the following academic departments: Chemistry, Physics , Mathematics, Botany, Zoology and Geology. It has a central laboratory dedicated for students and researchers.Faculty of Commerce: Study started in the faculty in the academic year 1980/1981.It includes the following academic departments: Business Administration, Mathematics & Insurance, and Statistics, Accounting & Auditing Economics and Public Finance. In addition to a center of analysis, scrutiny and scientific equipment maintenance, this is in order to help the University in achieving its goal to provide training programs for all sectors.Faculty of Medicine: Study started in the faculty in the academic year 1984/1985. It includes thirteen academic departments in addition to the following Hospitals:- The University Hospital, Suzan Mubarak Hospital for Child and Maternal Health Care, the Specialized Hospital, Clinical Oncology Hospital and the Hospital of Emergencies and Critical Cases. The faculty has been provided with scientific research labs. The University hospital with its various well-equipped academic departments is always ready to offer health service, medical examinations and treatment to all citizens with minimal chargesFaculty of Arts: Since its foundation in 1987, the Faculty has been fostering its position as a center for diverse cultures. It includes the following academic departments: Arabic Language, Philosophy, Psychology, Geography, Sociology, Oriental Languages, Library Science, and Foreign Languages Departments (English German and French).Faculty of Law: Study started in the faculty in the academic year 1987/1988. It includes the following academic departments: Pleadings Law, Public Law, Public International Law, Civil Law, Philosophy and History of Law, Economics and Public Finance, Commercial Law, Criminal Law, Islamic Sharia (Law), Private International LawFaculty of Home Economics : Study started in the academic year 1987. It includes the following academic departments Nutrition and Food Sciences, Home and Institutional Management , Clothes and Texture, Home Economics and Education. In addition to a self-sponsored Unit for Food and Ready-made Clothes Production affiliated to the Faculty.Faculty of Nursing : It was first established in 1989 as the Higher Institute of Nursing, study for bachelor degree started in the academic year91/92. Later, the institute transformed to be a Faculty that awards, B.Sc, M.sc and PhD in different scientific majors in the academic year 2000.Faculty of Computers and Information : The Faculty was established according to the presidential No (292) in 2001. Study started in the faculty in the academic year 2001/2002. The Faculty is mainly concerned with preparing specialists in computer sciences and information technology so as to be qualified to play a key role in this rapidly developing field on both the national and international levels. The faculty members are involved in conducting innovated studies and researches in this field. Additionally, the faculty provides institutions and organizations concerned with the use of computers programs and information technology with the needed scientific facilities and consultancies. It includes the following academic departments:- Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, and Operations Research and Decision Support. The Faculty awards the degrees of B.Sc, M.Sc, and Ph.D.Faculty of Electronic Engineering: It is considered one of the oldest faculties in the University. It is the first of its kind in Egypt and the Arab world as it being concerned with one major of the engineering sciences ; electronics. The faculty includes the following academic departments: Control and Measurements ,Computer Sciences , Electrical Communication Engineering, Physics and Mathematics. Additionally, the faculty has a productive workshop unit and scientific computer center offers training and guiding programsFaculty of Specific Education : It is located in the city of Ashmoun. It became affiliated to Minoufiya University in 1998.the Faculty includes the following academic departments: Home Economics Sciences, Artistic Sciences, Musical Sciences, Educational and Psychological Sciences, Social Sciences & Media and Educational Technology.Mionufiya University Branch, Sadat City : The University has another branch at Sadat City to achieve its sublime mission in promoting the local community through its educational and research services. The new campus includes the following faculties and institutes: -Faculty of Physical Education : The Faculty was established in 1993.It includes the following academic departments: Games, Drills and Gymnastics, Water Sports and Combats, Sports Hygiene, Track and Field Athletics, Essentials of Training and Recreation, and Methods of Teaching and TrainingFaculty of Veterinary Medicine: The Faculty was established in 1997, study started in the academic year 1997-1998.It includes 20 academic departments provided with well-equipped laboratories and Veterinary Hospital dedicated to provide practical training for the students and its surrounding environment .The Faculty has a public service center for veterinary consultancies as a self-sponsored Unit.Faculty of Tourism and Hotels Management: The Faculty was established in1997. It is one of the distinctive institutes in the University, concerned with a branch of study aiming at preparing talented and efficient graduates in the field of tourist studies and guidance. It includes the following academic departments: Tourist Guidance, Hotel Studies, and Tourist Studies. * Recently, a new branches for the Faculties of ( Education , Commerce, and Law) was established to meet the increasing demand for higher education in the local community in Sadat City. Study started in these Faculties in the academic year 2001/2002 in conformity with the followed system of study at the mother Faculty in Shebin EL-Koum. According to the latest statistical refrences students number become 3938. Research & Graduate Studies: All the University faculties conduct post-graduate studies programs leads to Master or Doctorate degrees. Most of the research projects conducted by the University staff contribute to the modern development of the Egyptian society and are primarily concerned with its social and economic needs. Additionally, the University has its annual quota of the academic missions funded by the Egyptian government and which offer opportunities for large number of the university students to undertake graduate studies whether, in Egypt or abroad or in the framework of the joint scientific channels system. Minoufiya University is listed among the major research Universities in Egypt. One of its key features is its being always standing ready to put all its research potentials at the service of the local community. The University is engaged in joint research programs with a number of well-known international research centers and institutes.Distinctive Institutes: It is noteworthy to mention that the University has three distinctive institutes specialized in promoting postgraduate studies and research projects. :-The National Liver Research Institute : The Institute was officially inaugurated in March 1987. It is a unique scientific institution in Africa and the Middle East being concerned with studies and treatment of hepatic diseases; the most dangerous epidemic widespread in Africa and the Arab World. The Institute is involved in a wide range of activities including: teaching and training M.Sc. and Ph.D. students, patients treatment and huge research work to find out and develop new drugs against hepatic diseasesGenetic Engineering & Biotechnology Research Institute: The Institute was first established in1990 as a self-sponsored unit concerned with the research field of tissue culture and genetic engineering. It awards the following scientific degrees ( M.Sc, Ph.D, and Diploma). The institute has a center of tissue culture and genetic engineering and public service center for genetic consultancies.Institute of Environmental Studies and Research: It is currently being established in Sadate City with the aim of undertaking comprehensive studies and researches in the field of desert environment. The research results are of great value to specialists concerned with the environmental economic utilization of the various desert resources and the production of developed kinds of animals and agricultural plants that fit the desert environment |
