The activities of the 20th annual conference of the Department of Ophthalmology and Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, Menoufia University, which is held in cooperation with the Egyptian Ramada Society, opened today, under the patronage of Dr. Headed by Dr. Hoda El-Sobky, Professor of Ophthalmology and Head of the Department


Dr. Hoda El-Sobky indicated that the conference will discuss over two days, through seven scientific sessions, 40 lectures and scientific research on modern eye surgery.


The sessions will also discuss eye plastic surgeries, corneal surgeries, glaucoma, cataracts, retinal surgeries, and eye diseases in children, noting that the department seeks to establish a unit for amputees for early detection of retinal detachment in children.


Dr. Sameh Saad, professor of ophthalmology and rapporteur of the conference, pointed out that the conference is attended by a large number of professors and doctors of ophthalmology from Egyptian universities and the Ministry of Health, and that the conference is an opportunity to exchange experiences and continuous medical education for young doctors. The conference also provides an educational service by highlighting the need for early diagnosis For eye diseases, especially cataracts and glaucoma, in adults and children


Dr. Farid Wagdy, professor of ophthalmology at the College of Medicine, added that the department is one of the distinguished departments in the college and that the conference, and stressed the importance of early diagnosis of glaucoma in children and warned of the need to follow up on the symptoms of glaucoma and the need to consult an ophthalmologist when symptoms appear that may indicate a child's injury and alert Parents due to the severity of this disease


Dr. Amin Faisal, professor of ophthalmology at Menoufia University, explained that the conference also discusses new surgeries for retinal detachment, vitreous haemorrhage, cases of severe myopia, perforation of the eyeball, diabetes and its relationship to eye diseases.


Dr. Amr Awara, Professor of Eye Medicine and Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, Tanta University, indicated that, during the conference, he presented a group of surgical cases in the field of eyelid plastic surgery, tear tears and how to deal with it with the latest treatment methods.
