Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of the University, the first activities of the Human Rights Unit at Menoufia University were held today, which discussed consolidating human rights principles and ensuring their implementation, and the importance of building humanitarian awareness of human rights in general, and the rights of students and university employees in particular.

The symposium was held under the patronage of Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Major General Dr. Amr Allam, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry’s Human Rights Unit, and Eng. Ahmed Nasr, Executive Director of the Ministry’s Human Rights Unit, and in the presence of Dr. Sobhi Sharaf, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development. Dr. Hazem Saleh, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Dr. Mansour Muhammad Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Atef Al-Fiqi, Director of the Unit and Vice President of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Hanafi, Professor of Public Law at the Faculty of Law, and the journalist Ahmed Mohsen, the media official in the Human Rights Unit at the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. Scientific.
Dr. Ahmed El-Kased pointed out that the university established the Human Rights Unit out of concern for the rights of university employees and to prepare educated generations who have awareness of the concept of human rights and out of belief in the importance of consolidating the concepts and principles of human rights and the concepts of democracy in the conscience of university students, with the aim of preparing them for leadership in the future, in addition to raising awareness. Faculty members, employees and students of their rights and duties towards the university and society as a whole, by holding many events, courses, seminars and activities, stressing the keenness of the Supreme Council of Universities to implement the law and protect human rights guaranteed by the Constitution.
El-Kased explained that universities have an important role in educating citizens and students about the importance of human rights and spreading their culture in order to achieve sustainable development and develop society.
The symposium also included a review of the most important principles of human rights, including basic rights such as the right to life, equality before the law, freedom of expression, the right to work, social security, and education, in addition to a review of the economic, social, and cultural rights of humans, such as the right to adequate food, the right to adequate housing, and education. Health, participation in cultural life.
In addition to introducing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Which is a document similar to a global road map for freedom and equality that protects the rights of every person everywhere in the world, so that every person can live his life enjoying freedom, equality and dignity.
