Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, announced that the Enactus team at Menoufia University won first place in the sustainable development competition from the German Federation for International Cooperation in cooperation with Enactus Egypt GIZ, which was launched by the Fund for the Care of Innovators and Geniuses in cooperation with the global "Enactus" organization; with the aim of supporting student initiatives aimed at solving societal challenges, in line with the sustainable development goals of Egypt's Vision 2030, under the auspices of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which aims to enhance pioneering projects and support innovative ideas to solve social and economic problems. Menoufia University competed among 35 Egyptian universities. Dr. Ahmed El-Kased explained that the idea of ​​the project in which the university team participated in the competition aims to preserve fruits from being wasted in export stations through the smart labels technology, which works through the active ingredients in it to preserve fruits from spoilage by extending their shelf life for 21 days. The project also aims to reduce the percentage of food waste and provide a sustainable packaging system for fruits by 2025. Al-Qassed added that the Enactus team of Menoufia University also succeeded in obtaining first place in the Juhayna Sustainability Competition with the idea of ​​a project to convert banana waste, which represents 2.3 million tons annually and is disposed of in unsafe ways such as burning or dumping waste in the Nile waters, which negatively affects the environment and farmers, into sustainable products to benefit from waste in the best ways to promote sustainable development goals and spread awareness in society. The envoy stressed the university's keenness to support youth initiatives and enhance the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among students, thanking the Innovators and Geniuses Care Fund and the Enactus International Competition Authority for their cooperation in organizing the competition, congratulating the university's winning team in the competition, stressing that the university pays great attention to entrepreneurship and provides its students with all the necessary support to transform their ideas into successful projects that can be implemented to serve society and industry. The team was supervised by Dr. Al-Husseini Abdel Ghaffar, the academic supervisor of the Enactus Menoufia team, and Dr. Basma Mohi El-Din. The team at the university includes more than 100 male and female students from various faculties. It is worth noting that ENACTUS is a leading organization in the field of social entrepreneurship, working to stimulate the spirit of entrepreneurship among young people, by launching projects that contribute to solving societal problems. Enactus is present in 33 countries and includes more than 1626 universities, including 62 universities and colleges in Egypt, and organizes the annual Entrepreneurship World Cup in October of each year
