The team of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Menoufia wins first and third place globally in the Robocon IDC24 competition in India

Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, explained that a team from the Faculty of Electronic Engineering participated in the Robocon IDC24 competition, which was held in India at the Faculty of Engineering at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University. The competition includes teams from 10 countries from different universities: the Arab Republic of Egypt (Menoufia University), the United States of America (MIT), South Korea (Seoul National University), China (Tsinghua University & Zhejiang University & Shanghai Jiao Tong University), Japan (Tokyo Institute of Technology & Tokyo Denki University), India (Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham), Thailand (Chulalongkorn University), Mexico (Instituto Politécnico Nacional ESIME Zacatenco), Singapore (Singapore University of Technology & Design), Brazil (Universidade de São Paulo), where the competition consisted of 8 teams of different nationalities. The students of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering were divided into 4 teams, and the student Muhammad Ahmad Salama Marzouq was able to win first place globally with his team, and the team of the student Khalid Abdul Hamid Rashad Salama won third place globally in the competition. The university president expressed his great happiness with this new achievement that is added to the list of the university's achievements at the global level, noting that the Faculty of Electronic Engineering is one of the distinguished and unique faculties in its specializations at the level of Egyptian and Arab universities, praising the scientific and innovative level of the students, and their ability to compete with different countries of the world and achieve the best positions at all levels, and their honorable representation of the university and the Arab Republic of Egypt in international forums, especially in one of the most important competitions in the world, which is the RoboCon, which has been organized annually since 1990 and is dedicated to students of universities, colleges and technical institutes in countries around the world, as the competition aims to build and support bonds of friendship and understanding between young people with similar tendencies who will be leaders in this technical field in the future. The competition is held according to a set of rules and laws that change from year to year, as the host country chooses the topic and conditions of the competition, and the participating students compete with their peers from other countries in building one or more robots according to the conditions of the competition, using their creative skills and technical capabilities. The university president stressed his full support for all innovative and distinguished students who have the skills that qualify them to achieve outstanding successes, and the importance of directing their capabilities in a way that serves the vision of the Egyptian state and the goals of sustainable development, and the directions called for by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to launch strongly into the era of technology and artificial intelligence, congratulating the distinguished winning students, and stressing that they will be honored for this great achievement. Dr. Ayman Amira, Dean of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering, who accompanied the team during the competition activities in India, added that the competition is based on finding solutions to life problems using robotics technology, and the challenge this year was to find a solution to one of the most important problems in East Asian countries, which is harvesting coconuts due to the danger posed by this profession and the shortage of workers, as all participating teams designed 3 robots, including 2 robots on the ground, one for harvesting coconuts, the second for collecting the fruits, and the third robot in virtual reality in an environment that simulates reality and the points of the three robots are counted, and the number of participants in the competition reached 64 participants from different nationalities and universities. Dr. Ayman Omeira pointed out that the college students have won multiple positions during their participation over the past years, as the team won second place globally in IDC 2014, IDC 2015, IDC 2023, and achieved first place globally in IDC 2016, IDC 2017, IDC 2019.
