President of Menoufia University witnesses the activities of the workshop "Accessibility in Education in Light of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research"

Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, witnessed the activities of the workshop "Accessibility in Education in Light of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research" in the presence of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education, and the secretaries of the Supreme Council of Universities, the Council of Private Universities, the Council of Private Universities, the Council of Technological Universities, and the Supreme Council for Institute Affairs, and a group of university presidents and leaders of the Ministry.

Dr. Ahmed El-Kased indicated that the Minister of Higher Education reviewed during the workshop the principles of the national strategy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which is based on 7 main principles, namely (integration, overlapping specializations, communication, effective participation, sustainability, international reference, entrepreneurship and innovation), and the extent of development witnessed by the higher education system with the support of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic.

The university president stressed that accessibility in education is one of the basic principles that the higher education strategy seeks to achieve, to ensure that education reaches all segments of society in a fair and equal manner, through several axes aimed at enhancing accessibility and achieving equality, the most important of which are increasing the number of educational institutions (universities and colleges), targeting remote and rural areas to reduce the geographical gap, increasing the acceptance rate in academic programs that meet the needs of the labor market, exploring ways of cooperation with the private sector to support educational projects, and enhancing the role of civil society in financing education. El-Kased added that Menoufia University seeks in its strategic plan to achieve these goals through comprehensive planning, and ensuring the availability of the necessary resources to implement these policies on the ground, in line with achieving the goals of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research and Egypt's Vision 2030, as a vision was developed to exploit the expansions of Menoufia University in Sadat City on an area of ​​200 acres that contribute to achieving the availability of education in new areas and provide educational programs that meet the needs of the industrial zone and programs for vocational and technical education to improve practical skills, and train students practically in cooperation with various companies to hone their skills and develop their capabilities. The university also seeks to support applied scientific research, joint funding for research, and enhance means of cooperation with various academic, research and industrial institutions, and work to increase the number of incoming students to join the university. The workshop also witnessed a speech by Dr. Cyril Clark, Executive Vice President and Provost of Virginia Tech University, USA, during which he presented the university's vision for cross-border cooperation, providing education and university enrollment mechanisms, and scholarship systems, reviewing the most prominent challenges that Virginia Tech University has overcome. Dr. Cyril Clark also presented the university's mechanisms and efforts to link academic programs to the industrial community, the university's interest in the cross-border education system, and how to create an educational environment that stimulates creativity, innovation and excellence, and prepares students well by developing modern academic programs, and providing students with modern science and technology; to be able to meet the needs of the international labor market, and his aspiration to enhance cooperation with Egyptian universities to achieve the maximum possible benefit. The workshop concluded by opening the door for discussion between university presidents and higher education leaders, and these discussions resulted in the presentation of positive, fruitful and supportive ideas for developing the educational and research system in Egypt in the future at the level of developing the practical skills of university students according to the needs of the labor market.
