Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, took part in the QS Higher Education Summit Asia Pacific 2025, whose first-day sessions commenced today at Korea University in Seoul, South Korea. The summit brings together an elite group of university presidents, specialists, and senior officials from around the world to explore opportunities for strategic partnerships and to strengthen academic and cultural cooperation across the Asia–Pacific region.

The opening ceremony featured an address by H.E. Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary-General of the United Nations, who underscored the essential role of education in driving sustainable development and enhancing international collaboration to confront global challenges.

Prof. El-Kased affirmed that Egypt is strongly and prominently represented at this year’s summit, with multiple public and private universities participating within a comprehensive national pavilion. The pavilion reflects the significant progress witnessed by Egypt’s higher education and scientific research system in recent years under the guidance of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He added that the pavilion includes extensive presentations highlighting the achievements of Egyptian universities in education, research, innovation, and international cooperation with leading global institutions.

He further explained that Egypt’s active participation in such a major international forum is expected to contribute positively to global university rankings—particularly the QS Rankings—by showcasing the advancements made by Egyptian academic institutions in educational quality, research performance, community engagement, and internationalization.

On the sidelines of the summit, Prof. El-Kased met with representatives from universities in India, South Korea, Malaysia, China, and Azerbaijan at the Egyptian pavilion within the accompanying Higher Education Exhibition. These meetings mark an important step toward strengthening the regional and international presence of Menoufia University in education and research, in alignment with the National Strategy for Higher Education and its objectives of expanding international partnerships, developing joint and dual-degree programs, and attracting international students. He noted that the bilateral discussions between Egyptian university leaders and their global counterparts are expected to result in new agreements for scientific and research cooperation, opening broader prospects for academic exchange and reinforcing Egypt’s standing as a regional hub for international education in the Middle East and Africa.
