In a solemn and celebratory atmosphere, Menoufia University marked the events of its 49th anniversary, during which Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of the University, honored Dr. Ayman El-Baz, Head of the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Louisville, USA, alongside honoring top graduates of the university’s faculties, recipients of Master’s and PhD degrees from members of the assisting academic staff, distinguished faculties in scientific production and publication, and faculty members with outstanding research contributions.
The celebration was attended by Major General Ibrahim Abu Limon, Governor of Menoufia; Mr. Mohamed Moussa, Deputy Governor of Menoufia; and a number of prominent academic figures, including Dr. Reda Hegazy, former Minister of Education and President of Al-Riyada University; Prof. Moawad El-Khouly, President of New Mansoura University and former President of Menoufia University; and Prof. Hisham Abdel Salam, President of the Egyptian E-Learning University. The event was also attended by former Presidents of Menoufia University: Prof. Saqr Ahmed Saqr, Prof. Abbas El-Hefnawy, Prof. Mohamed Ezz El-Arab, and Prof. Sobhy Ghoneim.
The celebration further witnessed the presence of a number of oversight, security, judicial, and executive leaders in the governorate, the Military Advisor, representatives of the Armed Forces, members of the Senate, and representatives of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Church. Also in attendance were the University Vice Presidents: Prof. Sobhy Sharaf, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Nasser Abdel-Bary, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Ghada Hassan, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Mrs. Soaad Beyoumi, University Secretary-General; in addition to faculty deans.
A delegation from Menoufia National University attended the celebration, headed by Prof. Nancy Asaad, Vice President for Academic Affairs, along with the deans of the medical and engineering sectors, the Secretary-General of the National University, and program directors.
During the celebration, the University President honored recipients of the University Appreciation and Incentive Awards, the University Award for Excellence, and the Scientific Authorship Award. The honoring also included faculty members who reached the retirement age, as well as faculty members who passed away during service, in appreciation of their dedication and sincere efforts.
Prof. El-Kased also honored 21 outstanding male and female graduates, 28 holders of PhD degrees, and recipients of Master’s degrees from within and outside the university, in addition to honoring 27 faculty members who received university awards, in accordance with the criteria approved by the University Council.
The honoring extended to the National Liver Institute and seven faculties for excellence in scientific production and international publication, as well as faculty members with the highest number of internationally published research papers, recipients of patents, authors of the best scientific theses, and the two best libraries among the university’s faculties. The ceremony also included honoring faculty members who passed away during the current academic year.
Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased emphasized that celebrating the 49th anniversary of Menoufia University represents an opportunity to reflect on a rich journey of achievements and to renew the commitment to supporting academic and research excellence, while honoring all those who have sincerely contributed to building this long-established academic institution.
He added that honoring top graduates, faculty members, assisting academic staff, and faculties distinguished in scientific production reflects the university’s firm belief that human capital is the core of development, and that scientific research is the driving force of progress and the gateway to the future.
The University President also reaffirmed Menoufia University’s continued commitment to supporting researchers, encouraging international publication, and stimulating innovation and patent registration, in line with achieving the Egyptian state’s vision for sustainable development and building the New Republic.
