Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, chaired a meeting of the Quality Assurance and Institutional and Program Accreditation Committee at the University’s faculties to review the latest developments in the accreditation files of colleges applying for institutional and program accreditation. The meeting comes as part of preparations for the upcoming official visit by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE), scheduled for mid-February 2026 and lasting two days during the 2026 academic year.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Sobhy Sharaf, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Nasser Abdel Bari, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Ghada Ali Hassan, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Suad Bayoumi, Secretary General of the University; and Prof. Wafaa Zahran, Director of the Quality Assurance Center. Discussions focused on the status of the colleges applying for accreditation, namely the Faculties of Early Childhood Education, Arts, Computers and Information, and Education.

During the meeting, the University President and Supervisor of the Quality Assurance Center reviewed the progress achieved by the applicant colleges in implementing the NAQAAE standards, the extent to which accreditation files comply with the revised 2022 standards, and the Authority’s approved requirements, in preparation for obtaining institutional accreditation for Egyptian universities.

Prof. El-Kased directed members of the Accreditation Committee at the Quality Assurance Center and the quality committees at the colleges to benefit from the experiences of faculties that obtained program and institutional accreditation in October 2025, thereby enhancing the chances of success for the colleges currently applying.

The meeting also addressed updates related to colleges scheduled to apply for accreditation in July 2026, namely the Faculties of Science, Commerce, and Specific Education. It was noted that the first phase of the Authority’s visit to the Faculty of Science is scheduled to begin on 10 May 2026. Prof. El-Kased emphasized the importance of obtaining international accreditation at both program and institutional levels, given its pivotal role in meeting labor market requirements locally and internationally, and in consolidating the concept of quality as a way of life within the university campus.

The University President presented a number of innovative solutions to overcome challenges facing institutional accreditation, foremost among them the digital archiving of all paper files, particularly newly approved bylaws endorsed by the Supreme Council of Universities, the Ministry of Higher Education, and the University Council. He also stressed the importance of coordinating university units and guidance signage at faculties, especially crisis and disaster units and student and alumni care units, completing organizational structures and administrative descriptions of new units, documenting them, and subjecting them to quality standards.

Prof. El-Kased underscored the need to expedite the completion of accreditation files for applicant colleges prior to the Authority’s announcement of accepting applications for the 2026 academic year. He stressed the commitment of faculty members to implementing the required standards and organizing awareness visits for academic and administrative staff to enhance understanding of the importance of international and program accreditation.

He further called for strengthening the role of internal reviewers, disseminating a culture of quality across the University, building a broad base of faculty members and teaching assistants who apply quality standards, working in accordance with advanced international benchmarks, and mobilizing all logistical capabilities to support colleges eligible for accreditation in July 2026.

The President emphasized the importance of periodic follow-up with nominated colleges, reviewing the quality of accreditation files according to approved standards, and adopting a strategic planning methodology for higher education institutions. This includes conducting environmental studies, analyzing gaps between the current and target situations, developing clear implementation plans with measurable performance indicators, and translating strategic goals into actionable activities.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Prof. El-Kased presented a set of directives related to the University’s strategic plans, implementation and follow-up mechanisms, and documentation within quality and accreditation files. He announced the commencement of regular meetings starting next week, in preparation for submitting the University’s executive plan files for institutional accreditation, conducting follow-up visits to colleges as simulations of official Authority visits, and setting timelines for completing the application of institutional accreditation standards during the current academic year.

Prof. El-Kased affirmed that Menoufia University will fully support all its colleges in submitting institutional accreditation files to NAQAAE, enabling the University to obtain governmental institutional accreditation during the 2026 academic year, marking a qualitative leap in the University’s standing on the local and international higher education map.

The meeting was also attended by Prof. Zeinab Abdel Khaleq, Professor of Civil Engineering and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Prof. Alaa El-Din El-Beltagy, Professor at the Faculty of Agriculture; and Dr. Noha Osman, Assistant Professor at the Department of Libraries, Faculty of Arts, Vice Directors of the Quality Assurance Center, along with Asmaa Refaat, Administrative Director of the Center and Secretary of the Committee.
