Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, affirmed that the University Hospitals continue to fulfill their medical and humanitarian mission with high efficiency. He praised the success achieved by the medical team of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery in saving the life of a 20-year-old young man who suffered a severe penetrating injury to the heart and chest. The emergency and highly delicate surgical intervention reflects the readiness of the University Hospitals to manage critical and emergency cases.

He pointed out that the patient was transferred from another hospital after sustaining a penetrating stab wound to the right side of the chest. Medical examinations revealed severe bleeding inside the chest cavity and a hemorrhagic pericardial effusion around the heart, necessitating immediate surgical intervention.

Prof. El-Kased explained that this success demonstrates the distinguished medical expertise and advanced treatment capabilities available at Menoufia University Hospitals, as well as the integration and teamwork among various medical specialties, ensuring the provision of advanced and safe healthcare services to citizens. He also reaffirmed the University's commitment to supporting the healthcare sector and continuously developing its infrastructure and medical equipment in accordance with the latest medical standards.

This achievement came under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Fahmy El-Naamani, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of University Hospitals; Prof. Mohamed Sabry Ammar, Executive Director of the University Hospitals; Prof. Sami El-Dahdouh, General Director of the University Hospitals; and under the leadership of Prof. Rafik Soliman, Head of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery.

For his part, Prof. Mohamed El-Naamani explained that the medical team immediately transferred the patient to the operating room, where surgery revealed a rupture in the right ventricle of the heart accompanied by an injury to the internal thoracic artery and severe hemorrhage. The team successfully repaired the cardiac rupture, controlled the bleeding, and repaired the injured artery. The patient is currently under close medical observation, and his general condition is stable.

The Dean of the Faculty emphasized that this success represents another addition to the record of medical achievements at the University Hospitals and reflects the distinguished scientific and professional standards of the medical teams. He also noted the continued support provided by the Faculty and Hospital administrations to all medical departments and the provision of the necessary resources for the continuous enhancement of therapeutic services.

Prof. Mohamed Sabry Ammar, Executive Director of the University Hospitals, also praised the rapid response and full coordination among the medical teams from the moment the patient was received in the Emergency Department until the completion of the surgical intervention, affirming that emergency and critical care services remain among the top priorities of the University Hospitals.

Prof. Rafik Soliman, Head of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, stated that the department includes highly specialized and well-trained medical staff capable of dealing with various critical cases and performing advanced cardiothoracic surgeries in accordance with the latest medical protocols.

The surgical team from the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery included: Dr. Sara Mohamed Abdel Sadiq, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Badei, Dr. Mohamed Sameh, and Dr. Mahmoud Zanaty.

The anesthesia team included: Dr. Samira Ayad, Dr. Mohamed Hisham, Dr. Wiam Moamen, and Dr. Mariam Omran.

The nursing team included: Ammar Yasser, Nada Mabrouk, and Mahmoud Gamal.
