He praised the success achieved by the medical team of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery in saving the life of a 20-year-old young man who suffered a severe penetrating injury to the heart and chest. The emergency and highly delicate surgical intervention reflects the readiness of the University Hospitals to manage critical and emergency cases. He pointed out that the patient was transferred from another hospital after sustaining a penetrating stab wound to the right side of the chest. Medical examinations revealed severe bleeding inside the chest cavity and a hemorrhagic pericardial effusion around the heart, necessitating immediate surgical intervention. Prof. El-Kased explained that this success demonstrates the distinguished medical expertise and advanced treatment capabilities available at Menoufia University Hospitals, as well as the integration and teamwork among various medical specialties, ensuring the provision of advanced and safe healthcare services to citizens. This achievement came under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Fahmy El-Naamani, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of University Hospitals; Prof. Mohamed Sabry Ammar, Executive Director of the University Hospitals; Prof. Sami El-Dahdouh, General Director of the University Hospitals; and under the leadership of Prof. Rafik Soliman, Head of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery. For his part, Prof. Mohamed El-Naamani explained that the medical team immediately transferred the patient to the operating room, where surgery revealed a rupture in the right ventricle of the heart accompanied by an injury to the internal thoracic artery and severe hemorrhage. The team successfully repaired the cardiac rupture, controlled the bleeding, and repaired the injured artery. The patient is currently under close medical observation, and his general condition is stable. The Dean of the Faculty emphasized that this success represents another addition to the record of medical achievements at the University Hospitals and reflects the distinguished scientific and professional standards of the medical teams.
