Menoufia University Launches an Integrated Medical and Development Convoy in Zorkan Village, Tala District, Providing Free Healthcare and Community Services Media Department 18/06/2026 Under the patronage of Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, and Major General Amr El-Gharib, Governor of Menoufia, and as part of the University's commitment to its community role and support for the state's efforts to achieve sustainable development by extending essential services to the most underserved villages, Menoufia University organized an integrated medical, developmental, and community service convoy in Zorkan Village, Tala District, in cooperation with several executive and community organizations across Menoufia Governorate. The convoy was organized under the supervision of Prof. Sobhy Sharaf, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and Acting Supervisor of the Education and Student Affairs Sector, in coordination with the General Administration of Community Service, the University Convoys Administration, the Menoufia Directorate of Health Affairs, the Hayah Karima Foundation, Beshabaha Union, the General Authority for Adult Education and Literacy, along with several supporting partners. Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased affirmed that Menoufia University continues to implement its vision of strengthening its developmental role through active field engagement and direct outreach to citizens by providing integrated healthcare, awareness, and development services that contribute to improving quality of life and enhancing healthcare standards, in line with the Egyptian state's development strategy and Egypt Vision 2030. The University President added that these convoys are part of the University's plan to expand community initiatives in the most underserved villages. He explained that the convoy delivered a comprehensive package of services, including medical examinations in several specialties, free medication, early screening campaigns for chronic diseases and breast and prostate cancer, in addition to health awareness and literacy programs, reflecting the University's position as a key partner in supporting sustainable development efforts. For his part, Prof. Sobhy Sharaf stated that the convoy witnessed a remarkable turnout from village residents, providing medical services in the specialties of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Dermatology, Cardiology, and Family Medicine. These services were delivered by a distinguished team of faculty members and physicians from the Faculties of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy, with free medications supplied through the support of the Hayah Karima Foundation and Beshabaha Union. The Vice President emphasized that the convoy represents a practical model of integration between the University, government institutions, and civil society organizations, ensuring that services reach citizens more effectively while maximizing their impact on local communities. The activities also featured the active participation of the healthcare initiative teams from the Menoufia Directorate of Health Affairs, which conducted early screening for chronic diseases, blood pressure and blood glucose measurements, kidney disease screening, as well as awareness and early detection campaigns for breast and prostate cancer, supporting the state's efforts in disease prevention and early diagnosis. The program also included an educational component, during which Dr. Amira El-Suhaimy, a faculty member at the Faculty of Nursing, delivered a specialized seminar on the importance of the early detection of breast cancer. The seminar covered breast self-examination techniques and highlighted the significant role of early diagnosis in increasing recovery rates and improving patients' quality of life. In another community initiative, the General Authority for Adult Education and Literacy in Menoufia conducted 30 literacy registration sessions for local residents, encouraging interested individuals to enroll in literacy programs and supporting the state's efforts to combat illiteracy. The convoy was organized under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed El-Noamani, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Haitham Meimoun, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; and Prof. Manal Farid, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, with the participation of the Vice Deans for Community Service and Environmental Development. The General Administration of Community Service and the Integrated Convoys Administration were responsible for organizing and coordinating the convoy with the participating entities. The convoy concluded with widespread appreciation from the residents of Zorkan Village, who expressed their gratitude for the valuable services provided and commended the University's efforts. They emphasized the importance of continuing such initiatives, given their direct contribution to strengthening healthcare services and supporting sustainable development in rural communities. Share
