Dr. Ahmed El-Kased , President of Menoufia University, announced the inclusion of Menoufia University in the Webometrics classification in the January 2024 edition of the general classification, which witnessed the inclusion of 79 Egyptian educational institutions.
El-Kased pointed out that advancing Egyptian universities in international classifications is one of the issues that receives the support and attention of the political leadership and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, explaining that the university is working to encourage international scientific publishing and provide technical support to researchers in a way that contributes to the university’s progress in international classifications, out of its keenness. University graduates should have great opportunities to obtain distinguished jobs in the labor market, commensurate with the university’s status, Egypt’s position as a destination for education in the Middle East and Africa region, and its role in educational leadership in the region.
El-Kased added that the Webometrics classification is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab Foundation, which is affiliated with CSIC and is considered one of the most important research bodies in Spain, and the classification is the largest in terms of the number of higher education institutions that are analyzed in preparation for participation.
Pointing out that the general Webometrics classification is scheduled to be issued twice a year starting in 2024, and is issued at the end of January and July of each year, to motivate educational institutions to have a greater presence on the Internet and display their activities accurately, and to pay attention to web policy, open access and transparency, stressing that international publishing of scientific research In Egypt, through universities and research centers, it has increased significantly in light of the implementation of the Ministry’s plan to support researchers technically in the field of international publishing, and the role of universities in encouraging researchers to publish internationally and developing university websites.
