Menoufia University wins first place in the Emerging Technologies Hackathon to Empower People of Determination at Benha University

Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, announced that the university team won first place in the health and sports track in the Emerging Technologies Hackathon Competition to Empower People of Determination, which was organized by Benha University, from February 10 to 13, under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and in cooperation with the National Academy. Information Technology for People of Determination and the Information Technology Institute.


The Menoufia University team was honored at the closing ceremony of the competition, among the winning university teams in the hackathon competitions, according to the specific competition areas and tracks, which are health and sports, availability and entertainment, and education and employment.


Dr. Ahmed El-Kased pointed out that the competition aims to enhance information technology and encourage participation in the field of developing assistive technologies for people with disabilities, and developing software and applications that help improve the lives of people with disabilities, by providing better access to information and services to them or by developing Technologies that facilitate interaction and communication for these people, pointing to the importance and necessity of supporting, empowering and motivating students of determination in Egyptian universities.


El-Kased added that the university’s participation in this competition comes within the framework of belief in the role of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and universities in supporting digital transformation and striving to achieve the goals of Egypt’s Vision 2030 and encouraging innovation, research and development by promoting and motivating young programmers and those with ideas and visions to present their smart ideas and software projects.


The university team participated under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Shaheen, Director General of the General Administration for Student Welfare, and Mervat Arafa, Director of the Scientific and Technological Activity Department


The student delegation included student Muhammad Mahmoud Zaghloul, student Ahmed Ashmawy Al-Sayed, student Abdullah Ahmed Zamz, student Muhammad Mahmoud Mustafa, and the delegation’s supervisor, Ibtisam Ibrahim.


The winning teams in the hackathon competition received financial prizes totaling 90 thousand pounds, presented by Benha University. The winners will also have a great opportunity to market their innovations.
