Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, witnessed the laying of the foundation stone for the Egyptian Universities Land Project in the north of the city of Kharga, at Kilometer 55 in the New Valley Governorate. The foundation stone was laid by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the presence of Major General Dr. Mohamed Al-Zamlot, Governor of the New Valley, and Dr. Abdel Aziz Tantawi. President of New Valley University, Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, and university presidents.

The university president explained that laying the foundation stone for the Egyptian university land project is the first of the presidential initiative “Alliance and Development” and the activation of the cooperation protocol that was signed between the Supreme Council of Universities and the New Valley Governorate, regarding the allocation of 1,000 acres to each university participating in the project to develop scientific research, agricultural and technological experiments, and crop cultivation. Strategy and medicinal and aromatic plants to serve the goals of sustainable development, and support efforts to reclaim and cultivate lands using the latest agricultural methods and modern irrigation systems to achieve increased productivity in agricultural crops.

It is worth noting that it was decided to establish the Egyptian Business Valley Company for Agricultural Technology and Sciences (East Valley), as an Egyptian joint stock company to manage and supervise the project. The company will be staffed by distinguished human cadres of researchers, technicians, and experts from research centers and universities, and Egyptian competencies that will help achieve the valley’s goals, in addition to To provide job opportunities for graduates of technological colleges and the School of Agricultural Technical Education, as well as entrepreneurs and innovators.

This project will also work to reclaim lands in the New Valley Governorate, and establish specialized research model farms, which contributes to the development of scientific research in Egyptian universities, and the implementation of the strategy and vision of the political leadership towards the new republic.
