Menoufia University, under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of the University, launched the “Environmentally Friendly School” initiative with the aim of expanding the societal and developmental role of the University by paying attention to the environment and supporting various institutions in the governorate, under the supervision of Dr. Sobhi Sharaf, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development.

Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of the University, confirmed that the initiative aims to motivate schools within Menoufia Governorate to transform into environmentally friendly schools, and to enhance commitment to environmental sustainability standards, within the framework of the Egyptian state’s efforts to transition to a green economy, and achieve sustainable development and a green future.
The initiative was taken by Abdul Rahman Al-Deeb School (formerly Al-Ahmadiyya) in the Shebin Al-Kom Educational Administration in the governorate as an experiment to launch it to reach the model of an environmentally friendly green school. The initiative inspected the entire school, the school yard, its green fence, the educational theatre, the kindergarten classrooms, the school laboratories, the library, the classrooms, the learning resources and the halls. Activities, security and safety requirements, and quality and sustainability files. The initiative was launched under the supervision of Dr. Nahed Ghoneim, Dean of the College of Education, and Dr. Mahmoud Fawzi Badawi, Vice Dean of the College of Education for Community Service and Environmental Development and the general coordinator of the initiative. The initiative team also included faculty members from the College of Information, the College of Home Economics, College of Education, College of Agriculture, College of Physical Education, College of Early Childhood Education, College of Specific Education in Ashmoun.
The university president also pointed out that the university is also seeking to obtain the best environmentally friendly university, pointing out that the College of Information has designed electronic applications and projects to raise environmental awareness about environmental sustainability and the trend towards green under the slogan “The Voice of the Environment and Sustainable Awareness,” as the project includes graphic designs presented by male and female students of the college. It reflects the sustainability of the environment, national products, influential personalities, visual identity, and environmental recycling, adding that the project is scheduled to be included in the file of the “Environmentally Friendly University” competition, as the project was supervised by Dr. Nadia Al-Qadi, Dean of the College, Dr. Sherine Al-Beheiri, Vice Dean of the College for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Karim Al-Sayed, and Dr. Iman Saladin.
