Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, announced that the doctors of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology and Medical Imaging succeeded in performing 25 diagnostic and therapeutic catheterizations for cases of pelvic, uterine and ovarian varicose veins visiting university hospitals during the past few months as a safer alternative to performing surgical operations that take a longer time to heal patients.

Dr. Ahmed El-Kased added that the Interventional Radiology Unit at the university hospitals received a patient who was suffering from varicose veins in the pelvis, uterus, and ovaries, and was suffering from severe pain in the pelvic area that increases during menstrual periods. She was treated through an intravenous catheter, which is considered a safe and effective treatment, with an opening not exceeding half. centimeter, indicating that this method is an effective and safe alternative to traditional surgeries, which may require the removal of the uterus and ovaries, as one of the most important features of the therapeutic catheter is that there is no surgical incision, and the patient can live her life normally from the day after the catheterization.
The cases were conducted under the supervision of Dr. Muhammad Al-Nomani, Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Muhammad Sabry, Executive Director of University Hospitals, Dr. Ashraf Zaitoun, Head of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology and Medical Imaging, and Dr. Hamid Al-Laqwa, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
