Dr. Ahmed El-Kased , President of Menoufia University, announced that the university was classified in the Spanish Cimagio classification for the year 2024 as one of the first category universities, Q1, in the overall index. The results of the classification indicated that 32 Egyptian universities and educational institutions were included among the institutions (Q1), meaning the top 25% in the classification, including Menoufia University, which ranked 14th at the level of Egyptian universities and academic and research institutions.

El-Kased  explained that the “Simago” classification uses three factors: scientific research, citations and scientific cooperation, and the institution’s website, and each of the three factors has indicators and a relative weight in the total evaluation. The “SCimago” classification includes sub-measures related to the number of research papers found on the “Scopes” database, the number of the institution’s outputs in cooperation with foreign institutions, as well as the rate of citations, the number of internationally published research compared to the number of researchers, and patents, indicating that 69 universities and research centers were included. El-Kased  pointed out that the university’s progress in international classifications came as a result of the plan prepared by the university to encourage scientific research, build the capabilities of researchers, and pay attention to international scientific publishing, by providing a distinguished educational and research environment to achieve the desired progress at all levels, Arab and international, and supporting the university’s capabilities.
