Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, participated in the regular meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, chaired by Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with the presence of Prof. Mostafa Rifaat, Secretary-General of the Council, and university presidents who are council members. The meeting was held at Suez Canal University.
Prof. El-Kased stated that during the meeting, the Supreme Council reviewed Menoufia University’s annual report for the academic year 2024/2025, which highlighted the University’s achievements in education, scientific research, community service, and environmental development.
The University President noted that the report reflects significant progress across various sectors, including the expansion of academic programs, the implementation of outstanding student activities and events, as well as community initiatives and research projects that reinforce the University’s role as a leading scientific institution supporting the National Higher Education Strategy, Egypt Vision 2030, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Prof. El-Kased emphasized that the University continues to implement its strategic plan to enhance the quality of education, innovation, and research, while strengthening effective partnerships with national and international institutions to prepare graduates capable of competing locally, regionally, and internationally.
The President added that the meeting included directives from the Minister to implement activities aimed at educating students about the greatness of Egyptian civilization and their unique cultural heritage. These include educational seminars, student exhibitions, research competitions linking past and present, and organized visits to museums to experience the richness of ancient Egyptian civilization.
The Minister also praised universities for organizing awareness campaigns addressing national security challenges and promoting enlightened religious understanding. He directed universities to continue hosting experts in national security and progressive religious thought to correct misconceptions and strengthen students’ sense of national identity and belonging.
During the meeting, Prof. Ashour reviewed the universities’ efforts to implement the “Tamkeen” initiative for the academic year 2025–2026, which launched in seven regional universities. This initiative includes extensive awareness campaigns to introduce services provided by student support centers for students with disabilities and promote a culture of inclusion and equality among students, faculty, and staff. These activities will continue until Thursday, 4 December 2025, coinciding with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The Minister also highlighted recent achievements in international university rankings, including the inclusion of 29 Egyptian universities in the 2025 CWTS Leiden Ranking, 25 universities in the 2025 Shanghai Ranking of Academic Subjects, 29 universities in the 2026 QS Sustainability Ranking, and 36 universities in the 2026 Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Rankings. He urged universities to continue supporting researchers in increasing publications in prestigious journals to enhance the global ranking of Egyptian universities.
Furthermore, the Minister commended the Global Innovation Institute (GInI) for awarding the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research the “Certified Government Innovative Organization – CGInO” certification with a five-star rating, marking it as the first government entity in the world specialized in higher education and scientific research to receive this recognition.
The Council also reviewed a report on key activities by the Ministry of Higher Education during November, including the historic visit of H.E. Lee Jae-Myung, President of South Korea, to Egypt, where he addressed initiatives in the Middle East, in the presence of Minister Ashour, various ministers, ambassadors, university leaders, and students, held at Cairo University.
