Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, along with Major General Ibrahim Abu Limon, Governor of Menoufia, attended the university’s 49th anniversary celebration, honoring the institution’s long-standing contributions since its establishment and its leading role in community service, environmental development, and remarkable advancements in education, scientific research, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence.
The celebration was attended by Mr. Mohamed Moussa, Deputy Governor; several university presidents, including Dr. Reda Hegazy, former Minister of Education and President of Al-Riyada University; Prof. Moawad El-Khouly, President of New Mansoura University and former President of Menoufia University; Prof. Hisham Abdel Salam, President of the Egyptian E-Learning University; and former presidents of Menoufia University: Prof. Saqr Ahmed, Prof. Abbas El-Hefnawy, Prof. Mohamed Ezz El-Arab, and Prof. Sobhy Ghoneim. Also in attendance were various oversight, security, judicial, and executive leaders, the military advisor, armed forces representatives, Senate members, and representatives from Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Church. University Vice Presidents included Prof. Sobhy Sharaf, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Nasser Abdel-Bary, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Ghada Hassan, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Mrs. Soaad Beyoumi, Secretary-General; and faculty deans. The delegation from Menoufia National University was led by Prof. Nancy Asaad, Vice President for Academic Affairs, along with deans of the medical and engineering sectors, the Secretary-General, and program directors.
In his opening speech, the University President welcomed the guests and expressed sincere appreciation for their participation, emphasizing that the celebration marks 49 years of dedication and achievement. He highlighted the university’s ongoing commitment to comprehensive development plans aimed at enhancing the educational and research process, aligning outputs with market needs, and implementing new projects across various sectors.
Prof. El-Kased stressed that Menoufia University continues its journey as a leading academic institution for 49 years, carrying the mission of knowledge and community service. He outlined the significant developments achieved this year in infrastructure, the launch of new academic programs to meet labor market demands, and the expansion of international cooperation with universities and research institutions worldwide.
The President highlighted the Sadat City expansion project, the establishment of the National Technological University, and the announcement of the “Year of Quality,” which achieved notable progress in academic and institutional accreditation for several faculties and university hospitals.
He added that the university achieved a significant leap in healthcare, including the foundation stone for the Cancer Institute expansion, opening new medical projects such as advanced operation units, a catheterization unit, a 24-hour emergency pharmacy, dental outpatient clinics, expansions at the model health insurance clinic, and the launch of the Technical Nursing Institute.
Prof. El-Kased also noted that the university received carbon footprint certification, ranked third among eco-friendly universities, and inaugurated a women’s empowerment unit, supported community initiatives, and launched two start-ups with a business incubator under construction—demonstrating the university’s vision to enhance the knowledge economy and translate research outputs into products and services that serve the community and support sustainable development.
He expressed pride in the administrative staff, their role in digital transformation and governance, and the continuation of training programs to enhance staff competencies.
The President also praised Menoufia National University for its achievements as a modern educational institution with advanced programs and laboratories, reflected in the high student enrollment rates.
In conclusion, Prof. El-Kased extended his thanks to the political leadership, particularly President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the Minister of Higher Education, the Governor of Menoufia, and all partners in success, including faculty, staff, and students, for their efforts in supporting the university and enhancing its standing.
In his speech, Governor Ibrahim Abu Limon expressed his pleasure in participating in the university’s 49th anniversary, highlighting Menoufia University as a major academic and developmental force in the governorate and a key partner in implementing development plans and public services. He praised the university’s distinguished progress in education, medicine, and research, as well as its contribution to the local community, noting that ongoing expansions and achievements reflect the state’s vision for investment in education and human development.
The Governor affirmed the continued full cooperation between the governorate and the university in implementing service and healthcare projects, providing support to achieve further progress in the educational and health systems.
The celebration included the honoring of distinguished individuals and awarding certificates of appreciation to those who contributed to raising the university’s profile. The University President and Governor presented awards recognizing contributions in education, scientific research, community service, medical and development projects, and student activities.
This recognition reinforces the university’s commitment to acknowledging outstanding contributions, fostering a culture of excellence and creativity, and strengthening the sense of belonging among all members of the university community, positively reflecting on its development and reputation locally and internationally.
The event featured presentations by Dr. Doaa El-Shaer from the Faculty of Education and student Rokia El-Meligy from the Faculty of Home Economics. Student Mohamed Sami Mahfouz, a medical intern from the Faculty of Medicine, recited verses from the Quran to open the ceremony.
