Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, held an expanded meeting with members of the Executive Office for International Rankings as part of the university’s ambitious plan to strengthen its position in global rankings and improve academic and research performance indicators.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Sobhi Sharaf, Vice President of Menoufia University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Hatem Sayed Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information and Supervisor of the Information Center, Dr. Salah Hegazy, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and Advisor to the University President for Innovation Affairs, Dr. Nora Samri, Ranking Office Coordinator, Dr. Marwa Nabil, Coordinator of the Scientific Research Support Unit, in addition to faculty representatives assigned to follow up and compile the data required for international rankings.

The university president stated that this meeting comes within the framework of Menoufia University’s commitment to developing its educational and research system and enhancing its competitiveness regionally and internationally, in a way that positively reflects on the quality of its academic outputs and community service.

During the meeting, the importance of international rankings was reviewed as one of the most significant global tools for evaluating universities, given that they reflect the quality of the educational process, the efficiency of scientific research, and the international impact of academic institutions. Participants also discussed ways to support scientific productivity and international publication in prestigious journals to improve the university’s position across various ranking indicators.

Prof. Ahmed El-Kased affirmed that Menoufia University possesses strong capabilities that qualify it to stand among leading universities, stressing the importance of teamwork and integration among all sectors to achieve a qualitative leap in the rankings file.

He added: “We are working according to a clear vision aimed at strengthening the position of Menoufia University on the global higher education map through supporting serious scientific research and encouraging international publication in high-impact journals in line with modern international standards.”

He also emphasized that the university gives great importance to building researchers’ capacities through institutional training in international publishing skills and providing a supportive environment that encourages creativity and innovation within the university.

He pointed out that the university has established a specialized office to support international publication, offering logistical and technical services to researchers and facilitating publication procedures in international journals, while stressing the importance of benefiting from the services of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank in this regard.

Prof. Ahmed El-Kased further noted that the university is working on launching a free publication initiative within the university, alongside introducing a new regulation to amend and increase scientific publication rewards, in order to encourage researchers to excel and achieve impactful scientific output.

He stressed the necessity of adhering to research ethics as a fundamental pillar in building a strong academic reputation, directing the Faculty and Leadership Development Center to implement specialized training programs that meet researchers’ actual needs, with a focus on international publication skills and improving research quality.

He also reaffirmed the importance of benefiting from the services of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, describing it as an integrated scientific platform that should be fully utilized to support scientific research and access the latest international journals.

The university president highlighted the need to benefit from the experiences of distinguished universities, strengthen cooperation and knowledge exchange, and continuously monitor performance indicators to ensure tangible progress in international rankings during the coming period.

For his part, Dr. Hatem Sayed Ahmed stressed the need to develop work mechanisms related to rankings within faculties, emphasizing the vital role played by faculty representatives in collecting and verifying data, as they serve as the main link between faculties and central administration. He also stressed the necessity of accuracy, continuous data updating, unified working mechanisms, and activating digital transformation systems and databases to ensure rapid and accurate response to international ranking requirements.

Meanwhile, Dr. Salah Hegazy emphasized the importance of strengthening the role of faculty representatives in supporting innovation indicators and applied research, pointing to the need to document research and innovation activities within each faculty accurately so that they positively affect the university’s ranking. He also stressed encouraging researchers to pursue distinguished international publication and linking scientific research to community needs, thereby improving academic reputation and research impact indicators in global rankings.
