Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, conducted an inspection visit to the university hospitals, National Liver Institute, and Oncology Institute, Menoufia University to follow up on the progress of the digital transformation and hospital automation project, which is considered one of the most important strategic projects supporting the modernization of digital infrastructure within hospitals as part of the state’s orientation toward digital transformation and healthcare system development. During the visit, he reviewed implementation rates and ensured the readiness of the new digital systems to support medical services provided to patients.

He emphasized that the digital transformation and automation project for university hospitals is one of the major initiatives aimed at achieving comprehensive development in both medical and administrative work systems, as it depends on implementing an integrated hospital management system linking all medical and service departments. The project includes upgrading technological infrastructure, modernizing internal networks, activating electronic patient registration systems, digitizing medical files into secure electronic records, and applying electronic archiving systems for radiology and laboratory results.

The project also includes linking pharmacies and storage units to an electronic system for managing medicines and medical supplies to ensure effective monitoring and accurate provision of needs, in addition to implementing intensive training programs for medical and administrative staff on using modern digital systems to guarantee maximum benefit.

It is worth noting that the project aims to automate workflow inside hospitals to improve performance, raise service quality, enhance technological awareness among staff, and create an electronic medical file for every citizen visiting the hospitals. It also aims to establish a technological infrastructure including internal information networks across all hospital departments, servers, and computer systems.

Hospital staff have also been trained first in computer basics and then on hospital management applications, including medical applications directly related to patients such as registration, laboratories, and pharmacy, as well as financial and administrative applications related to hospital management.

Prof. Ahmed El-Kased pointed out that digital transformation contributes to improving medical service quality, diagnostic accuracy, and the availability of an integrated patient database through automating medical and administrative procedures and linking various departments through a unified electronic system that accelerates service delivery, reduces congestion, and facilitates patients’ access to healthcare in the shortest possible time, thereby supporting proper medical decision-making and enhancing efficiency within the healthcare system.

He affirmed that the university gives great importance to developing its university hospitals according to the latest technological systems, in line with the state’s direction toward building an integrated digital healthcare system, ensuring distinguished medical services worthy of Egyptian citizens.

During his inspection, the university president checked the regularity of the electronic registration system and the speed of data exchange among departments, directing the continuation of technological infrastructure development and system updates in line with the latest international standards.

He also expressed appreciation to Dr. Mohamed El-Nomany, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of University Hospitals, Dr. Osama Hegazy, Dean of National Liver Institute, Dr. Ahmed Sabry, Dean of Oncology Institute, Menoufia University, Dr. Osama Abdel Raouf, Dean of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Supervisor of the Project Implementation, Dr. Mohamed Sabry, Executive Director of the University Hospital, Dr. Ahmed Attia, Executive Director of the Liver Institute Hospital, Dr. Mohamed El-Senbawy, Director of the Oncology Institute Hospital, and all contributors to the project for their tangible efforts in following up the implementation of the digital transformation system, affirming that the progress achieved reflects awareness of the importance of institutional development and teamwork.
