Prof. Dr. Osama Hegazy Commends the Qualitative Advancement of the Clinical Pharmacy Unit at the National Liver Institute
For the second consecutive day, the halls of the National Liver Institute at Menoufia University witnessed the continued scientific momentum of the Clinical Pharmacy workshops, held as a key component of the “National Liver Institute Integrated Conference 2026.” The day was marked by rich discussions addressing the latest therapeutic protocols, under the patronage and supervision of the General Administration of Medical Supply and Pharmacies, led by Dr. Mona Zenati.
The day’s activities commenced with a scientific lecture delivered by Dr. Samy El-Dahdouh, Director General of University Hospitals and Professor of Chest Diseases at the Faculty of Medicine, who reviewed the latest updates in respiratory tract infections. This was followed by an important interactive lecture by Dr. Mohamed Akl, Professor of Hepatology and Internal Medicine at the institute, focusing on strategies for managing infections and treatment approaches in patients with liver cirrhosis.
As part of integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application, Dr. Menna, Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at the institute, presented a case study from the Internal Medicine Department. Additionally, Dr. Basma Azzam, Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at the Oncology Institute, addressed the topic of neutropenia (low white blood cell count) with scientific precision. The presentations concluded with Dr. Aya Samir, Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, who presented a case study from the Surgery Department at the Liver Institute.
In a gesture of appreciation, the workshop was honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Osama Hegazy, Dean of the National Liver Institute, who recognized the participants by awarding shields and certificates of appreciation, expressing his pride in the level achieved by the institute’s pharmaceutical staff.
In a special statement on the sidelines of the event, Prof. Dr. Osama Hegazy stated: “What we are witnessing today within the General Administration of Medical Supply and Pharmacies and the Clinical Pharmacy Unit is not merely routine development, but a true qualitative leap that reflects Menoufia University’s vision for modernizing the healthcare system. The role now played by the clinical pharmacist in reducing medication errors and improving patients’ quality of life is a fundamental pillar we aim to strengthen in order to elevate the National Liver Institute to the ranks of leading global medical institutions.”
For her part, Dr. Mona Abdel Hamid expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the Clinical Pharmacy team, praising their efforts in organizing this event, which reinforces the institute’s position as a beacon of scientific research and medical excellence in Egypt and the Middle East.
