The National Liver Institute at Menoufia University Celebrates International Nurses Day and Honors Its Outstanding Nursing Staff

The National Liver Institute at Menoufia University organized a grand celebration on the occasion of International Nurses Day, as a gesture of appreciation and pride in the pivotal role played by the “angels of mercy.” The event honored distinguished members of the institute’s nursing staff in recognition of their tireless efforts and continuous dedication to serving patients and advancing the healthcare system within this prestigious scientific and medical institution.

The ceremony was attended by a distinguished group of leaders from the healthcare and academic sectors, including Professor Dr. Hanaa Sorour, former Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Menoufia and former Member of Parliament; Professor Dr. Manal Farid, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing; and Professor Dr. Essam Salah, Professor of Liver and Pancreatic Surgery and former Executive Director and Chairman of the Institute.

Also participating in the celebration were the hospital’s executive leaders, represented by Professor Dr. Ahmed Attia, Executive Director of the National Liver Institute Hospital; Professor Dr. Islam Ayoub, Hospital Director; and Ms. Hanaa Mabrouk, Director of the Nursing Department at the institute.

In his official opening speech, Professor Dr. Osama Hegazy, Dean of the National Liver Institute at Menoufia University, expressed his great pride in the nursing teams, emphasizing that the nursing profession is no longer merely a supporting role, but has become an essential and central partner in delivering modern healthcare and advancing institutional development and healthcare accreditation.

Dr. Hegazy stated:

“The successes and achievements accomplished by the institute’s hospital across all departments — from operating rooms, intensive care units, and liver transplantation departments to outpatient clinics and infection control and quality units — would not have been possible without the sincere efforts and continuous teamwork of the nursing staff.”

He added:

“Nursing staff played a fundamental role in the hospital obtaining accreditation from the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) through their strict adherence to quality and safety standards and the precise implementation of infection control policies. This significantly contributed to achieving institutional excellence in government excellence initiatives and digital transformation. The institute’s administration remains fully committed to supporting the development of nursing personnel through continuous training and educational programs, while providing a supportive and motivating work environment that reflects the magnitude of their dedication to serving Egyptian patients.”

For her part, Professor Dr. Hanaa Sorour expressed her pride in participating in the event, affirming that the nursing staff of the National Liver Institute represents a model of commitment and competence, and emphasizing that nursing care is the cornerstone of the success of any healthcare institution.

Professor Dr. Manal Farid highlighted the strong academic and professional partnership between the Faculty of Nursing and the National Liver Institute, aimed at graduating and training cadres capable of handling the most specialized medical fields with international-level competence.

Meanwhile, Professor Dr. Essam Salah praised the historic role of the nursing staff in the institute’s development journey, affirming that they represent a steadfast pillar and a genuine partner in the clinical and surgical success that has distinguished the institution over the years.

Professor Dr. Ahmed Attia and Professor Dr. Islam Ayoub also emphasized that the hospital administration places the training and development of the nursing staff among its top priorities, noting that this recognition serves as motivation to continue providing distinguished healthcare services worthy of the institute’s reputation and the Egyptian patient.

In an emotional speech, Ms. Hanaa Mabrouk, Director of the Nursing Department, extended her gratitude and appreciation to all nursing staff members at the institute, expressing her pride in their efforts and sacrifices and praising the institute administration’s continuous support for them.
