Under the auspices of Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, the General Administration for Student Care at Menoufia University (Social Activities and Trips Department) organized the University College Chess Championship for the 2024/2025 academic year, under the supervision of Prof. Nasser Abdel Bary, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs.
Prof. Ahmed El-Kased emphasized the importance of student activities in enhancing self-confidence and belonging to the university through winning or even actively participating in tournaments. This enhances students' self-confidence and abilities, in addition to discovering talents, raising the athletic level, and enhancing the technical and skill levels of players and sports teams. He also highlighted the importance of spreading awareness and sports culture and increasing awareness of the importance and benefits of sports among members of the university community.
Prof. Nasser Abdel Bari added that the tournament aims to stimulate a spirit of competition among students and select a team to represent the university in external summits, the University Youth Week, and tournaments organized by the University Sports Federation at the level of Egyptian public and private universities, academies, and the Ministry of Higher Education.
The tournament results saw Mohamed Rizk, a student from the Faculty of Medicine, take first place; Ahmed El-Sayed El-Sharaby, a student from the Faculty of Engineering, take second place; Mahmoud Hamada, a student from the Faculty of Engineering, take third place; Youssef Fawzy Zein, a student from the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, take fourth place; and Sherif Mohamed Farag, a student from the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, take fifth place.
The tournament was supervised by Dr. Mohamed Shaheen, Director General of the General Administration of Student Care, and Mohamed Khattab, Director of the Social Activities and Trips Department.
