Menoufia University organized an educational and awareness symposium on the October War as part of a series of activities and events organized by the university to celebrate the forty-ninth anniversary of the glorious October War victories,Under the auspices of Dr. Adel Mubarak, President of the University, and under the supervision of Dr. Nancy Asaad, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and in the presence of Major General Mahmoud Hassanein, Head of the Organization and Administration Division of Air Defense and former military attaché in Washington.

The symposium opened with the Republican anthem and recitation of verses from the Noble Qur’an, then a moment of silence for the souls of the nation’s martyrs.

In his speech, Dr. Adel Mubarak welcomed Major General Staff Mahmoud Hassanein on his first visit to Menoufia University. He also welcomed male and female students from the various faculties of the university, congratulating everyone on the start of the new academic year.

The president of the university stressed the importance of the students and new generations knowing the history of their fathers and grandfathers. They participated in the glorious October war, which showed the epic of the Egyptian people, the owner of civilization, history, the heroism of the armed forces and the sacrifices of the best soldiers of the land in order to restore dignity. Mubarak also praised the will and determination of the Egyptian soldier who sacrificed his life to raise his head. And he narrated with his blood the glorious sands of Sinai until the great victory was achieved and the land was restored.

The president of the university explained that what is happening in Egypt at the moment in terms of national achievements and projects and a huge boom at all levels is no less important than the achievement of the October war for the sake of current and future generations, praising the role of the political leadership represented by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who leads the Egyptian state with wisdom and a vision for the future. In order to achieve the sustainable development goals, and Egypt’s strategic plan 2030 to reach the dream of the new republic that is being realized on the ground.

Among the achievements that have been achieved under the support of the wise political leadership is the establishment of private universities, including Al-Menoufia National University, stressing that the establishment of 12 private universities in one year is a phenomenon that has not occurred before in the world, which benefits the current and future generations, and provides high-quality education to graduate a distinguished student. He has special skills, and is able to keep pace with global development.

Mubarak directed the students not to get carried away by rumors and to investigate the accuracy of the source of the information, because the intellectual war is no less dangerous than the war of weapons, and the importance of the university’s role in shaping students’ awareness and developing their sense of national belonging. Therefore, the university will organize many meetings and awareness seminars for students.

On the other hand, Major General Staff Mahmoud Hassanein thanked Dr. Adel Mubarak, President of the University, for inviting him to deliver the symposium amid a large student crowd. He also congratulated the establishment of Al-Menoufia National University, praising the role of the symposium organizers.

During the symposium, Major General Mahmoud Hassanein spoke about several axes related to the October War, including the military and social axis, and rounds of the Arab-Israeli conflict, explaining that all countries of the world organize annual celebrations of their victory memories.

He added that with the passage of time, we discover things that were not revealed during the previous years regarding the epic of the October War. He also reviewed the memories and spirit of the October War and the scenes of preparation and planning for it until the great victory that history wrote in letters of light in its records.

And Dr. Adel Mubarak, President of the University, honored Major General Staff Mahmoud Hassanein by gifting him the university shield.

The symposium was organized by the General Administration of Youth Welfare at the university under the supervision of Dr. Muhammad Shaheen, Director General. The symposium was presented by Dr. Doaa Al Shaer.
