Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, a team of students from the Cybersecurity and Data Analytics Program at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Menouf was able to win third place in the “Cyber Champions” nationwide cybersecurity competition, which was hosted by the Information Technology Institute, Knowledge City branch in the New Administrative Capital. This is under the supervision of Dr. Ayman Al-Sayed Amira, Dean of the College of Electronic Engineering, and Dr. Nermin Abdel Wahab Al-Bahnasawy, Executive Director of the Cybersecurity and Data Analytics Program and general supervisor of the team.

Dr. Ahmed El-Kased pointed out that the competition witnessed, in its final stage, more than 500 students competing from 46 colleges from the universities of Menoufia, Cairo, Ain Shams, Mansoura, Sinai, Galala, Misr Informatics, and the 10th of Ramadan Institute. A team from Cairo University won first place, while a team from Cairo University took first place. Mansoura came in second place, and the Menoufia University team came in third place. The three teams will represent the Arab Republic of Egypt in the Arab qualifiers for “Cyber Champions,” which will be held in November 2024, with the participation of teams from several Arab countries, including Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the Sultanate of Oman.
El-Kased stressed the importance of encouraging scientific research and innovation among students and accustoming the student to exploring facts, discovering new horizons of knowledge and expressing his opinions freely, in addition to training students to write scientific research from the standpoint of enhancing and enriching what is being studied, and refining the student’s abilities and talents in line with Labor market requirements and linking scientific research to industry.
For his part, Dr. Ayman Omira, Dean of the College of Electronic Engineering, praised the results achieved by the team and its advancement to the final competitions, amid the participation of more than a thousand students who received prior training courses in cooperation with Zinad IT and field experts, which included the cybersecurity track for beginners on the Maharah Tech platform.
Dr. Nermin Al-Bahnasawy, who supervises the team, also explained that the team included students Mahmoud Ali Hashad in the second year, Ahmed Yasser Al-Saadani, Amr Muhammad Mousa, and Ahmed Muhammad Ghanem in the third year, and Omar Ihab Ain Shawka in the fourth year, congratulating them on their success and achievement, and noting their keenness to The college and university facilitate the participation of students in such competitions and events in a way that reflects the advancement of their scientific and practical level and keeping pace with the modern world.
