Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, held the monthly session of the University Council in the presence of the Council members: Vice Presidents of the University, Dr. Sobhi Sharaf for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Nasser Abdel-Bari for Education and Students, and Dr. Ikrami Gamal, Secretary-General of the University, and Deans of Faculties.
The university president began the meeting by extending his thanks and appreciation, on his behalf and on behalf of the council, to Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, on the occasion of the issuance of Cabinet Resolution No. 2862 of 2024 approving the establishment of the Oncology Institute at Menoufia University for research and therapeutic purposes, with a hospital attached to it for the treatment of tumors. Thanks also to Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Major General Ibrahim Abu Limon, Governor of Menoufia, and everyone who contributed to achieving this achievement and this important step to develop the medical sector, which comes in line with the state's direction and plan to develop university hospitals. The establishment of the Oncology Institute at Menoufia University is a strategic step towards improving specialized health care and developing scientific research in the field of oncology. The institute also represents the first stage of the stages of establishing the medical city, the biggest dream that is being worked on to achieve to meet the needs of the governorate and surrounding areas and the requirements of the health sector, in addition to serving the community by developing medical services; in all specialties.
The university president referred to the meeting he held to discuss the executive procedures and mechanisms of the transitional phase to start work at the Oncology Institute in terms of providing and housing faculty members, medical service providers and the administrative apparatus.
The university president congratulated the deans on the occasion of the start of the academic year 2024-2025, stressing the need to follow up on the readiness and preparedness of all university faculties to receive students and start studying and take all necessary measures to ensure the regularity of the educational process. In this regard, the university president congratulated Dr. Naim Fawzy for renewing his assignment as Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education for an academic year, and Dr. Ahmed El-Kholi for working as Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture within the framework of organizing the workflow in the faculties.
The university president praised the announcement of the inclusion of 26 scientists from Menoufia University in the Stanford list of the top 2% of the most cited scientists in the world in various specializations, congratulating all researchers on this well-deserved achievement that has been achieved and contributes to raising the name of the university in various international forums and global classifications.
El-Kased stressed the importance of Menoufia University's participation in the presidential initiative "A New Beginning for Human Development" and organizing a number of important events such as organizing integrated convoys for the governorate's villages, and organizing awareness seminars, based on Menoufia University's keenness to participate effectively in the presidential initiatives launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and an important step that enhances the efforts of the Egyptian state towards achieving human development, which is a main axis in Egypt's Vision 2030 to achieve sustainable development, and provide a decent and decent life in which the Egyptian citizen enjoys all his rights from health, education, job opportunities, housing, services, facilities, awareness, social care, sports and cultural services, and others.
Dr. Ahmed El-Kased reviewed the most important events that took place during this month, including participation in the signing of a joint cooperation protocol between the Supreme Council of University Hospitals and the Banque Misr Foundation, in the presence of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of the Supreme Council of University Hospitals, with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banque Misr and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Egyptian Banks, which aimed to support Banque Misr for five university hospitals, including the National Liver Institute Hospital, to which an amount of 26 million pounds was allocated to develop the hospital's infrastructure.
An inspection tour was conducted with Major General Ibrahim Abu Limon, Governor of Menoufia, during which he visited the university hospitals and inspected the university land allocated for the establishment of the new Oncology Institute and the Medical City. He inspected the outpatient clinics building and the updates to the emergency hospital, and inspected the pathology laboratory, which is the most modern laboratory fully equipped with the latest technologies and equipped with an immunostaining device, which is the most modern device that helps in diagnosing various diseases. He also followed up on the updates to the living rooms, women's and men's observations, the analysis laboratory, the surgery booth, and women's and obstetrics, as well as the final equipment and preparations for the Technical Institute for Nursing building in Manshiyat Sultan and its readiness to receive students for the new academic year 2024-2025.
A visit was also organized to Menoufia Private University to follow up on the regularity of the start of studies in the medicine and surgery program and to ensure that all necessary preparations are completed to start studies in the rest of the faculties starting next week and to receive new students, and to open the activities of the introductory day for the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and honor the top students of the previous academic year.
The agenda was also discussed during the meeting and the topics of each sector were presented.
