Today, Menoufia University hosted the 73rd cultural symposium organized by the Popular and Military Defense Forces in cooperation with Egyptian universities as part of the celebrations of the 51st anniversary of the glorious October victories, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, Major General Osama Abdel Hamid Daoud, Commander of the Popular and Military Defense Forces, Major General Mohamed Ali Othman, Assistant Commander for Military Education, Mohamed Moussa, Deputy Governor of Menoufia, Brigadier General Mohamed Al-Saeed Jaafar, Military Advisor to the Governorate, and Vice Presidents of the University, Dr. Sobhi Sharaf for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Nasser Abdel-Bari for Education and Students, and Dr. Ekramy Gamal, Secretary-General of the University, in the presence of deans, agents, and students of the university, the Students for Egypt family, and the families of the martyrs.
Dr. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, welcomed Major General Osama Abdel Hamid Daoud, Commander of the Popular and Military Defense Forces, and the attendees from the military leadership, Al-Azhar and church men, security, executive and supervisory agencies, civil society, vice presidents of the university, the university secretary-general, deans and vice deans of colleges, university students and families of martyrs. Expressing his happiness to host the 73rd cultural symposium organized by the Popular and Military Defense Forces, which reflects the interest of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, in youth to develop the spirit of loyalty and belonging among university youth, as they are the present, future and true wealth of the nation. Dr. Ahmed El-Kased stressed that hosting the cultural symposium on the October victories comes to support the enlightenment and cultural thought, and its national duty towards achieving sustainable development, Egypt's Vision 2030, and introducing youth to the goals of the new republic, the most important of which is building the Egyptian person and preserving his personality and identity. Because it contributes to highlighting the great role of our armed forces and the role of the popular and military defense forces within the framework of implementing the Egyptian state's strategy to raise awareness among our children by implementing many activities that include teaching military education, organizing educational seminars, awareness lectures on national security and information warfare, cultural and religious awareness, and organizing external visits for students to see the giant development projects, units, shrines and military museums.
The university president also pointed out that the Egyptian state faces many challenges amidst the fourth generation wars that aim to destroy societal values and question national and religious constants, and here comes the role of the university in shaping the awareness of young people and correcting their misconceptions and rejecting extremist ideas, and helping them to use reason and logic to form a moderate opinion, and preserve the Egyptian personality and identity, especially among male and female students.
Dr. Ahmed El-Kased also extended his sincere greetings and appreciation to the brave men of the Egyptian Armed Forces, the symbol of giving and the protective shield of the homeland, and what it has provided, is providing and will continue to provide for the elevation of this homeland and the protection of its people and capabilities and the protection of its lands. He also presented a certificate of pride and appreciation to the righteous martyrs of Egypt who made for Egypt with their souls and blood an honorable history, full of dignity, sacrifice and loyalty, so that Egypt may live safe and stable under its political leadership. For his part, Major General Osama Abdel Hamid Daoud, Commander of the Popular and Military Defense Forces, expressed his happiness to be in Menoufia University and to participate with the university president, vice presidents, deans, professors, and male and female students of the colleges in celebrating the glorious October 6 anniversary. He conveyed to them the greetings of Lieutenant General Abdel Majeed Saqr, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, and Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, expressing his pride and honor to be among his sons, male and female students, who represent the harbingers of a bright tomorrow and a promising future, and on whom Egypt has great hopes in building the new republic. The Commander of the Popular and Military Defense Forces stressed that the Egyptian people were and still are the center of gravity of the Egyptian state and the bulwark against attempts to destabilize it, and that the past ten years have been a test of the Egyptian people's resilience and steadfastness, stressing the need to work to ensure that this people remain united, through understanding and awareness of the surrounding dangers and threats, saying: "Whoever believes that it is possible to touch the land of Egypt is mistaken, for with the arms and determination of the men of the armed forces and the sons of its great, proud people, Egypt will remain, with God's care, safe and secure." Major General Osama Abdel Hamid Daoud added that the sun of our beloved homeland, Egypt, has risen today on a land that has become safe and secure, and has achieved its glorious victories, the memory of which we live these days, which is the memory of the great October victory, which will remain a miracle by all military standards, and for its sake, pure souls have departed to their Creator, after they confronted and resisted, and carried out their mission with all valor and courage in reclaiming the precious land of Sinai, and preserving Egyptian honor and dignity before the whole world. The Commander of the Popular and Military Defense Forces pointed out that the main goal of organizing these seminars is to confront thought with thought, and to fortify all segments of Egyptian society, especially our young people, and protect them from false ideas and destructive beliefs, through correct perception and true awareness of all the dangers and threats that threaten Egyptian national security in all strategic directions.
Major General Osama Abdel Hamid Daoud was keen to express his thanks and appreciation to Dr. Ahmed Al-Qassed, President of the University, and all participants in organizing this symposium, expressing his happiness with the works and artistic performances presented in this symposium in love of our dear country. He especially thanked the university’s students with special needs who participated in presenting the symposium’s segments, pointing out that Egypt’s youth are the foundation of building the state and that the Egyptian Armed Forces spare no effort in providing all forms of support and assistance to the Egyptian people. He also thanked Lieutenant Colonel Mustafa Akid, Director of the Military Education Department at Menoufia University, for the effort made throughout the symposium’s preparation period. Major General Samir Abdel Ghani, a lecturer at the Military Academy for Graduate Studies, gave a lecture on the glorious October victories and the challenges facing the Egyptian state, which dealt with the strategic defense plan of the armed forces, international strategic defense, lessons learned from the glorious October War, and the challenges facing our political leaders and armed forces and the files of the Arab region since 2014.
Dr. Essam El-Rouby presented an awareness seminar entitled "Egypt, Value and Stature", stressing that Egypt is a country of security and safety until the Day of Judgment, citing the words of God Almighty "Enter Egypt, God willing, in safety", explaining that the name of Egypt in the Arabic language is unbreakable "as it is resistant to breaking and remains with the passage of time and place, God willing, which God mentioned in the Holy Quran and was a refuge and shelter for the messengers and prophets, and the Messenger of God loved it with a sincere love from the bottom of his heart and recommended it to the good and called on the youth to be loyal to the dear homeland Egypt and to preserve its security and safety.
Menoufia University students presented various performances in love of Egypt, and Menoufia University Choir, led by Maestro Dr. Abdel Hamid Amer, presented various national singing segments under the supervision of Dr. Rania Hamed, Professor at the Faculty of Early Childhood. The segments also included a theatrical performance entitled "The Martyr", and students of the Faculty of Childhood Education presented the show "The Story of a Country".
During the celebration, a documentary film about Menoufia University was shown, along with a documentary film showing national projects throughout Egypt and in various economic, agricultural, industrial, infrastructure, housing projects, and in the fields of new and renewable energy.
The symposium also witnessed the honoring of a number of martyrs' families, distinguished college students, participants in organizing the ceremony, and students with disabilities. Major General Osama Abdel Hamid Daoud, Commander of the Popular and Military Defense Forces, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Qassed exchanged commemorative shields. At the end, everyone stood in reverence for the national anthem of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
