President of Menoufia University Announces the Commencement of Soil Testing Works for the Expansion of the Oncology Institute as the First Phase of the Integrated Medical City Project

As part of Menoufia University’s strategic plan to expand its healthcare and educational services, Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of the University, announced the commencement of soil testing works for the expansion of the Oncology Institute, which includes the construction of the northern building, the upgrading of the southern building, and the development of the general site of the university hospitals. This marks the first phase of establishing the Medical City, one of the largest national projects implemented by the University to serve the people of Menoufia and neighboring governorates.

Prof. El-Kased explained that the Medical City is being established on a large area and will comprise several specialized hospitals, research centers, and educational facilities. The project aims to provide high-quality medical services and a modern educational environment for students and physicians, making the city a fully integrated medical hub and a center of scientific and healthcare excellence in the Middle Delta region, in line with the Egyptian state’s strategy to develop the healthcare sector and improve citizens’ quality of life.

He added that the commencement of soil testing represents the first practical step toward implementing the project on the ground after completing all engineering studies and required designs. The soil tests aim to assess the nature of the land in preparation for laying the foundations, following the latest engineering systems and standards to ensure the highest levels of quality and safety.

Prof. El-Kased emphasized the University’s special attention to this project due to its strategic importance in enhancing the university healthcare system. He noted that the Medical City Project is a qualitative addition to the development process in Menoufia and the surrounding governorates, as the University seeks to establish an integrated medical system that combines treatment, research, and continuous training in accordance with the latest international standards.

He further explained that the first phase of the project includes infrastructure works and the preparation of the general site over the coming months, followed by the commencement of the main construction works as soon as possible. The University is committed to strict supervision to ensure compliance with the set timeline and execution according to the highest quality standards. The project will feature state-of-the-art medical equipment and facilities, specialized units for cancer diagnosis and treatment, and fully equipped research laboratories to support scientific studies in this vital field.

Prof. El-Kased concluded by expressing sincere appreciation to H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his continuous support in developing the healthcare and education sectors, and to H.E. Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, for his great support of Menoufia University’s projects. He affirmed that this project embodies the Egyptian state’s vision of building an integrated healthcare system that serves citizens and advances the goals of sustainable development.

In a related context, Prof. El-Kased, accompanied by Dr. Ahmed Sabry, Director of the Oncology Institute, followed up on the integration of new resident doctors into the Institute, totaling 21 physicians across various oncology specialties. He confirmed that the inclusion of new doctors strengthens the medical team’s capacity to provide outstanding patient care and supports research efforts in cancer treatment and prevention. The University attaches great importance to the academic and practical training of young doctors according to the latest medical standards, enhancing the University’s role in advancing the national healthcare system.

Prof. El-Kased also stressed the importance of training resident doctors in accordance with the cooperation protocols between Menoufia University Hospitals and the National Cancer Institute, Cairo University, to ensure the provision of comprehensive training programs that enhance the residents’ competencies and equip them with the latest scientific and clinical expertise in the field of oncology.
