Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, chaired the meeting of the Supreme Committee for Information Technology and Institutional Digital Transformation. The meeting was attended by Prof. Sobhi Sharaf, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Ghada Ali Hassan, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. Hazem Saleh, former Vice President; and Ms. Soaad Bayoumi, Acting Secretary-General of the University, along with committee members.
The President emphasized that the meeting comes within the framework of closely monitoring the implementation of the university’s digital transformation strategy and reviewing mechanisms for developing the information technology system in alignment with national trends toward digital transformation. This supports the transition to fully integrated e-management and enhances the quality and efficiency of educational and administrative services provided by the university.
Prof. El-Kased expressed his satisfaction with the tangible achievements made during the past period, which reflect the university’s commitment to achieving the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030 and strengthening its position as a smart educational institution based on knowledge and innovation. He stressed the importance of teamwork, leveraging academic expertise, and involving students in digital transformation efforts.
He noted that Menoufia University is moving steadily toward the future by adopting the latest digital technologies and developing its IT infrastructure, aiming to become a regional center of expertise in digital transformation while adhering to data governance and ethical standards in technology use.
The President added that the upcoming phase will witness expanded applications of artificial intelligence and data analytics within the university system, supporting decision-making, improving the quality of education, and enhancing healthcare services in university hospitals. He praised the progress made in the hospital digitalization project and emphasized the importance of investing in human capital and digital capacity-building as a cornerstone of sustainable institutional transformation.
He also stressed the need to develop a flexible digital system capable of adapting to rapid changes, supporting innovation and digital entrepreneurship within the university, enhancing its competitiveness regionally and internationally, and providing successful models applicable across state institutions.
Prof. El-Kased highlighted that the university possesses an advanced e-learning platform aligned with international standards, praising the new electronic portal (New Portal), which represents a qualitative leap in delivering digital services, simplifying procedures, enhancing communication, and ensuring access to knowledge for all university members.
He emphasized the importance of securing data centers and digital infrastructure against physical and cyber threats, noting the renewal of firewall system licenses across Egyptian universities, including Menoufia University.
During the meeting, the minutes of the first session for the academic year 2025/2026 were approved, and several key issues were reviewed, including the renewal of Microsoft software licenses and academic email systems, data center security reports, and progress rates of the new electronic portal.
The committee also discussed the electronic payment system for student fees, the university housing application platform, and a memorandum regarding contracting internet lines for university dormitory facilities, within the framework of cooperation with the Egyptian Company for Data Transmission.
Additionally, the meeting reviewed updates on the university hospitals digitalization project and a proposed plan to link electronic testing centers outside central complexes (theoretical, medical, and engineering), including faculties of Education and Sports Sciences. The President directed the formation of committees to manage and organize operations in these centers.
The meeting also addressed progress in the electronic document management system, plans for digitizing postgraduate studies, development of the current portal, and mechanisms for verifying official pages and establishing a unified editorial policy across the university and its faculties.
Furthermore, discussions covered the status of IT units within faculties and the job descriptions of their staff, aiming to improve efficiency and achieve institutional digital integration.
The meeting was attended by a number of deans, vice deans, and IT sector leaders, including Prof. Hatem Sayed Ahmed, Prof. Mohamed Saafan, Prof. Osama Abdel Raouf, Prof. Hossam Awad, and Prof. Gamal Mahrous, along with representatives from the Faculties of Computers and Information, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Science, and Electronic Engineering, as well as Dr. Mina Saafan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, Dr. Amr Mossad, Dr. Gamal El-Din Selim, and Eng. Shaaban Mansour, Director General of the Information Center, in addition to committee members.
