El-Kased Announces the Success of the National Liver Institute at Menoufia University in Saving a 13-Year-Old Libyan Child Through Complete Removal of the Right Liver Lobe

Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, announced the success of a specialized surgical team at the National Liver Institute in performing a highly delicate and complex surgery on a 13-year-old Libyan child who was suffering from a massive tumor in the right lobe of the liver. The condition had caused persistent abdominal pain and recurrent episodes of vomiting. The patient underwent the necessary medical examinations and imaging studies to assess his condition and develop an appropriate treatment plan.

The University President explained that the medical team successfully removed the entire right lobe of the liver containing the tumor. This complex surgical procedure demonstrates the advanced medical expertise and sophisticated treatment capabilities of the National Liver Institute. He emphasized that this achievement reflects the high level of excellence attained by the medical system at Menoufia University.

Prof. El-Kased affirmed that the University places great importance on developing the healthcare sector and supporting its hospitals and specialized medical institutes with the latest equipment and technologies. He also highlighted the University's commitment to investing in human resources through continuous training and enhancing the competencies of medical teams, thereby contributing to the provision of advanced healthcare services in accordance with international standards.

The University President added that the hospitals and institutes of Menoufia University have become a treatment destination for patients from various governorates and Arab countries, thanks to their distinguished medical professionals and highly specialized expertise capable of handling complex cases. He noted that the National Liver Institute is one of the most prominent specialized medical institutions in Egypt and the Arab region in the diagnosis and treatment of liver and gastrointestinal diseases, as well as liver transplantation.

For his part, Prof. Osama Hegazy, Dean of the National Liver Institute, explained that the Libyan child was admitted to the Institute suffering from abdominal pain. Medical examinations revealed a massive tumor in the right lobe of the liver, and the patient was subsequently prepared for surgical intervention.

He added that the operation was performed by a specialized team of liver surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff. During the procedure, the entire right lobe of the liver containing the tumor was successfully removed, with careful monitoring of the patient's condition throughout and after the surgery. He further noted that the child received the necessary medical care at the Institute following the operation, his health condition stabilized significantly, and he was discharged after physicians confirmed his improvement and completed the required follow-up and treatment plan. He also extended his appreciation to all members of the medical, nursing, and technical teams who contributed to the successful management of the case.
