Menoufia University President Chairs Committee for the Selection of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Affirms that Competence and Transparency Are the Cornerstones of University Leadership Selection Media Department 07/07/2026 Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, chaired the meeting of the committee responsible for selecting the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, as part of the University's procedures for appointing academic leaders and its commitment to applying the highest standards of transparency, integrity, and equal opportunity in selecting qualified academic leaders capable of driving development and institutional excellence. The committee included Prof. Ashraf Mohamed Abdel Basset, Academic President of the University of Hertfordshire Branch in the New Administrative Capital; Prof. Saqr Ahmed Saqr, Former President of Menoufia University; Prof. Hazem Ibrahim Saleh, Former Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; and Prof. Bahaa El-Din Mohamed El-Sorougy, Emeritus Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Former Dean of the Faculty. Prof. El-Kased emphasized that Menoufia University places great importance on selecting faculty deans based on objective criteria that focus on competence, experience, and the ability to plan and lead institutional development. He noted that this approach is aligned with the State's strategy for advancing higher education while strengthening the University's academic and research standing. He further stressed that the selection committees operate with complete impartiality and transparency to ensure equal opportunities for all candidates. The University President added that the Faculty of Medicine is one of the University's distinguished faculties and represents a fundamental pillar of its medical, educational, and research system. He explained that the next phase requires leadership with an ambitious vision capable of advancing academic performance, strengthening scientific research, enhancing the quality of healthcare services provided by the University Hospitals, and expanding academic and research partnerships. These efforts support Menoufia University's vision of achieving institutional excellence and joining the ranks of Tier 1 universities, in line with the State's strategy for developing higher education and scientific research. During the meeting, the committee listened to presentations delivered by each candidate outlining their future vision for the development of the Faculty of Medicine, including plans to enhance education, strengthen scientific research, develop the University Hospitals, improve the quality of healthcare services, and advance quality assurance and accreditation in line with the Faculty's mission and future aspirations. Five faculty members applied for the position of Dean of the Faculty of Medicine: Prof. Mohamed Fahmy El-Nomany, Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and the current Dean of the Faculty; Prof. Ayman Mohamed Abdel Ghany El-Lahlah, Professor of Endemic Diseases; Prof. Farid Mohamed Wagdy, Professor of Ophthalmology; Prof. Mahmoud Mohamed Abdel Aziz Emara, Professor of Internal Medicine; and Prof. Hady Saleh Abu Ashour, Professor of General Surgery. The committee concluded its work after interviewing all candidates and discussing their visions and executive plans, in preparation for completing the legal procedures governing the appointment of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. The process aims to serve the best interests of both the Faculty and the University while supporting Menoufia University's ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of education, scientific research, and healthcare services.
