The President of Menoufia University inaugurates the activities of the Ninth Environmental Week "Environmental Creativity... a Social Responsibility"

Dr. Adel Mubarak, President of Menoufia University, inaugurated the activities of the ninth environmental week, which is organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector for the second semester of the current academic year, entitled “Environmental Creativity.. Social Responsibility” over two days, in the presence of the two Vice Presidents of the University, Dr. Ahmed Al-Kased for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Nancy Asaad For education and students, Dr. Abdel Rahman Al-Bagouri, the university’s president’s advisor for community service and environmental development affairs, the accountant Jalal Abdel Salam, the acting Secretary-General of the university, the deans of the faculties and the vice-deans for community service and environmental development affairs, faculty members and students.

In his speech, the President of the University emphasized that the organization of the Environmental Week, which is organized by the university on a regular basis, comes within the framework of the interest of the state and the university as one of the state institutions in preserving the environment and society by spreading community awareness and local, regional and international challenges and developing awareness among students and members of the university in preserving the environment and developing the surrounding community. The week also aims to support the university’s role in employing the energies of college students in the field of volunteer work to serve the community and the environment, developing their environmental awareness and developing a spirit of cooperation and integration among them and with civil society.

Mubarak reviewed the most important presidential initiatives launched by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, which aim to serve society and develop the environment, including the Decent Life Initiative, which is considered the most important initiative targeting the simple Egyptian citizen to improve all services provided to him, provide him with a decent life worthy of him, and support and develop the most needy villages. And the national project, Egypt’s Future for Agricultural Production, to provide high quality agricultural products at reasonable prices to citizens and export the surplus abroad, which contributes to reducing imports, providing hard currency and achieving sustainable development goals, and the university’s research contributions to participate in the COP27 conference that will be held in Sharm El Sheikh under the auspices of the President of the Republic, which focuses on the role of Science and technology in addressing the effects of climate change, noting that the Environmental Week includes important seminars on climate change and new and renewable energy.

At the conclusion of his speech, he directed the students to the importance of community participation and for each student to have a role he seeks to play and to leave his imprint in community service to be an essential part of Egypt’s future and to achieve its strategic plan towards a better future, stressing his support for outstanding students in the field of environmental work and community service.
For his part, Al-Bagouri explained that the community service and environmental development sector has been keen for years to organize a series of environmental weeks to discuss important issues related to the environment and society, and the participation of all university faculties in organizing many activities, events, seminars, workshops and convoys, and this week comes to highlight the role of the university in facing environmental crises. issues and solving various community problems through holding awareness and guidance seminars on societal problems and preserving the environment, and the participation of the Addiction Control Fund in awareness campaigns among students to raise awareness of the dangers of drug abuse, in addition to medical convoys to the villages of the governorate.

During the opening, a documentary film was shown about the activities of the community colleges, which were implemented during the second semester, produced by the university's media production unit.
