Under the patronage of Professor Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, the university organized an awareness seminar on “Managing Professional Conduct”, as part of its commitment to enhancing human capital and improving institutional performance in line with its new strategic plan (2025–2030). The seminar was delivered by former university president Professor Mohamed Ibrahim, with the participation of Professor Sobhi Sharaf, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Professor Ekramy Gamal, University Secretary-General, and Professor Farhat Abdel-Sayed, General Supervisor of the Center for Strategic Studies and Leadership Development. The event was organized by the center under the supervision of Ms. Abeer El-Toukhy, its Director-General.

Professor Sobhi Sharaf opened the seminar by conveying the greetings of Professor Ahmed El-Kased to the administrative staff and his apology for being unable to attend due to his participation in the International Higher Education Exhibition in Sweden. In his remarks, he emphasized the vital role of the administrative body, which is no less important than the academic and educational role, as it ensures the smooth running of daily operations and contributes to achieving the university’s mission and objectives. He stressed the university’s keenness to train and qualify administrative staff, provide a supportive and motivating work environment based on justice, transparency, and equal opportunities, and continuously improve services offered to students, faculty members, and society. He also expressed his gratitude to Professor Mohamed Ibrahim for his valuable contribution to this important training program.

In his speech, the University Secretary-General highlighted the university’s commitment to its administrative staff as the backbone of operations. He announced the preparation of a comprehensive series of awareness seminars aimed at enhancing staff efficiency and developing their skills. He explained that the senior administration is working on a performance development plan that includes specialized training programs and objective evaluation systems to maximize human potential, strengthen institutional performance, and improve competitiveness. He further stressed the importance of transparent annual reporting, ensuring equal opportunities, and supporting underperforming staff through training and continuous monitoring.

During the seminar, Professor Mohamed Ibrahim spoke about the significance of professional conduct as a cornerstone of building a positive and productive work environment. He outlined the differences between positive behavior, which reflects commitment and discipline and contributes to achieving goals, and negative behavior, which wastes time and resources and undermines work quality.

The seminar also introduced key concepts, such as job misconduct, defined as a lack of compliance with workplace regulations and instructions leading to organizational issues, and resistance to change, which refers to individuals’ or departments’ reluctance to accept new reforms and developments. Solutions such as dialogue, training, and clarifying the benefits of change were proposed to address this challenge.

The discussions further reviewed the ongoing efforts to update the Menoufia University Strategic Plan 2025–2030, which aims to advance institutional performance and improve educational and administrative services in line with quality standards, sustainable development requirements, and Egypt’s Vision 2030. Special emphasis was placed on the development of the administrative body as a primary priority in the university’s strategy.

The seminar also explored mechanisms for enhancing staff performance through continuous training, fostering teamwork, and recognizing outstanding efforts, all of which contribute positively to the development of the work environment and the realization of the university’s future vision.

The session concluded with an open discussion on key concepts related to administrative conduct, general regulatory frameworks, and issues of concern to the administrative staff.
