Menoufia University President Chairs University Council Session and Congratulates Newly Appointed Leaders, Affirming Enhanced Cooperation

Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, chaired the University Council session for February, in the presence of Prof. Sobhy Sharaf, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Ghada Ali, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Mrs. Soaad Bayoumi, Secretary-General of the University; and the Deans of Faculties.

At the outset, the University President extended his congratulations to H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to the Egyptian people, and to the Islamic nation on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, praying that it may return to Egypt with goodness, blessings, and prosperity. He also congratulated all members of the University community—faculty, staff, and students—wishing them continued health and success.

Prof. El-Kased conveyed his sincere congratulations to Prof. Abdelaziz Konsowa on his appointment as Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, expressing confidence that his academic and administrative expertise will further advance Egypt’s higher education and research system. He also expressed appreciation to Prof. Ayman Ashour, former Minister of Higher Education, for his dedicated efforts in enhancing the educational and research process at Egyptian universities.

The University President extended his congratulations to Major General Amr El-Ghareeb on his appointment as Governor of Monufia, affirming continued cooperation between the University and the Governorate to support sustainable development and improve public services. He also congratulated Major General Ibrahim Abu Limon on his appointment as Governor of Port Said, expressing gratitude for his support of the University during his tenure as Governor of Monufia. Additionally, he congratulated Mr. Mohamed Mousa on the renewal of confidence in his position as Deputy Governor of Monufia.

Prof. El-Kased expressed his pride following the Presidential Decree appointing Prof. Nasser Abdelbary as President of Sadat City University, noting that this appointment reflects the distinguished caliber of Menoufia University’s academic leaders and its role in preparing qualified cadres capable of assuming senior leadership positions.

He further noted the issuance of Presidential Decrees appointing new deans: Prof. Hatem Mohamed Sayed Ahmed as Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information; Prof. Gamal Mahrous Attia as Dean of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering; and Prof. Manal El-Sayed Farid as Dean of the Faculty of Nursing. He also announced the assignment of Prof. Salah Abdel Fattah Hegazy, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, to serve as Advisor to the University President for Innovation Affairs.

The President expressed pride in the full accreditation granted to the National Liver Institute Hospital by the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR), describing it as a new milestone reflecting adherence to the highest national and internationally recognized quality standards.

Prof. El-Kased highlighted the University’s remarkable progress in 2025 across several prestigious international rankings, reflecting significant advancement in academic and research performance. The University recorded 30,861 internationally published research papers and increased citation rates, alongside expanded international agreements and support for emerging interdisciplinary programs linked to technology and innovation.

Menoufia University maintained its presence in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings within the 1201–1500 band among more than 2,100 universities globally, and appeared in subject rankings in Engineering, Computer Science, Medical Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Life Sciences.

The University also achieved advanced positions in the EduRank 2025 rankings at both local and regional levels, excelling in more than 130 academic disciplines. It continued its presence in the AD Scientific Index, the Webometrics ranking for digital presence and openness, and the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR).

Notably, Menoufia University was listed for the first time in the QS World University Rankings by subject, in addition to advancing in the SCImago Institutions Rankings, reflecting its growing academic and research reputation regionally and internationally.

The President announced that the University will celebrate its Golden Jubilee this year, marking 50 years since its establishment, expressing pride in its achievements over half a century of academic, scientific, and administrative excellence. He directed the formation of a higher committee comprising distinguished faculty and administrators to prepare a comprehensive plan for the Golden Jubilee celebrations, encompassing academic, cultural, social, and sports events.

In recognition of the dedicated efforts of the administrative staff, the University Council approved the disbursement of a financial bonus of EGP 2,000 to administrative personnel on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, reaffirming the University’s commitment to motivating and appreciating its employees.

Prof. El-Kased also addressed the Egyptian Student Engagement Survey for the academic year 2024–2025, emphasizing the importance of implementing corrective measures to address feedback regarding service quality and encouraging broad student participation due to its significance.

He extended sincere appreciation to the Quality Assurance Center and to Prof. Wafaa Zahran and her team for their distinguished efforts during accreditation visits to the Faculties of Arts, Computers and Information, and Early Childhood Education, underscoring the University’s commitment to academic quality and excellence.

The session concluded with the President presenting the meeting agenda to Council members and briefing them on key topics discussed.
