Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, participated in the meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, chaired by Prof. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the presence of Prof. Mostafa Refaat, Secretary of the Council, along with council members. The meeting was held at Cairo University.
At the outset, members of the Supreme Council of Universities extended their sincere congratulations to Prof. Abdelaziz Konsowa on the confidence placed in him by the political leadership upon assuming the position of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. They wished him continued success and affirmed their full cooperation in advancing the development of the higher education and scientific research system.
The Council members also expressed their sincere appreciation to Prof. Ayman Ashour, former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, for his dedicated efforts in advancing the higher education and research system during his tenure, wishing him continued success.
The Council further congratulated Prof. Yehia Eid on his appointment as President of Kafrelsheikh University, Prof. Ayman Abdel-Meguid on his appointment as President of Arish University, Prof. Nasser Abdelbary on his appointment as President of Sadat City University, and Prof. Ahmed Adel Abdelhakim on being assigned to act as President of Alexandria University. The Council wished them all success in fulfilling their responsibilities.
In addition, the Council extended its appreciation to outgoing university presidents in recognition of their distinguished efforts in developing their academic institutions during their terms of office.
Prof. Ahmed El-Kased stated that the Minister emphasized at the beginning of the meeting the importance of cooperation in addressing the various challenges facing Egypt’s higher education and research systems. He stressed the necessity of collective action as one unified team to confront the challenges facing universities, underscoring the significance of the innovation file and the need to strengthen integration between scientific research, education, and industry, while contributing to national and developmental projects across various sectors.
The Minister also highlighted the vital role of university hospitals and the importance of continuing their development to enhance the quality of healthcare services provided to citizens. He emphasized the need for sustained integration between university hospitals and Ministry of Health hospitals to deliver distinguished healthcare services.
The meeting further stressed the importance of developing the performance of Faculty Development Centers through the establishment of a comprehensive framework to ensure the effectiveness of their role in achieving their assigned objectives. It also reaffirmed the commitment to implementing the goals of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research and accelerating the completion of comprehensive mechanization and digital transformation across university systems.
Prof. Ahmed El-Kased added that the Minister underscored the necessity of maximizing benefit from the Egyptian Knowledge Bank as a presidential initiative supporting the scientific research ecosystem in Egypt.
The Council reviewed updates regarding the renewal of licenses and the provision of technical support for information network protection systems at public universities to safeguard them against cyberattacks.
The Council also approved amendments to the composition of the Cultural Relations Committee at the Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Universities by adding new members.
In conclusion, the Council listened to a report outlining the key activities of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research during the month of February.
For his part, the President of Menoufia University affirmed the University’s commitment to implementing the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and actively participating in institutional development plans, thereby contributing to enhancing the quality of educational and research services provided to students and strengthening the role of universities regionally and internationally.
